hopeless - smb over bridged firewall
Dear List!
I use a shorewall 2.0.8 on a Debian sarge system. I use a DSL connection
to the Internet (ppp0 - eth1 to the modem) and a bridge to the local
lan. The bridged config i''ve made with bridge.html from the shorewall
site. The Bridge is between local net and a openvpn tap device. This
works. I ccan make tunnels, and a can make a lot of things through the
firewall. I can get a list

vpn-zone wide open
Hello!
I am using shorewall shorewall-2.0.11-1 on fedora core2

interface for a freeswan-vpn connection.
A few days ago, portsentry spit out a lot of connections from windows
clients (port 135, 445). Ooops.
I review my shorewall settings but could not find a mistake. So I took a
win-client and established a second

DNAT not working anymore
Heya guys and gals,
I had a shorewall 1.4.x running on my router and somehow it decided to
stop working.
I didn''t really change something, it just stopped working really.
Anyway, here the info that is asked for on the support page at first:

2.0.9
# ip addr show

IGMP
The BBC are currently trialling multicasting the Olympics. This requires
multicast and IGMP to be available. As far as I can make out, in 2.0.8
at least, all multicast addresses are filtered out and, to my naive
eyes, can''t be re-enabled.
Please prove me wrong :-)

repost (passive FTP server in DMZ and shorewall 1.4.2)
I apologize for the first message. :)
---------------------------------------
I have an FTP server running in the DMZ section of my home network. It uses port 23000 for connection and ports 19990 to 19994 for data transfer.
I have setup the following rule for outside people to connect to it:
DNAT net dmz:192.168.2.2 tcp 23000
I''m at work right now and I can''t use

dmz2dmz?
Hi
My situation:
I have two pc''s with public ip''s (192.159.56.206(webserver) and
84.196.123.65(mail-gateway)) in the dmz. The firewall (84.196.123.66) is
configures with proxyarp, so nothing is changed on the pc''s from when they
were not behind the firewall (i.e. they don''t have the firewall as gateway
(and they each have different gateways, only 84.196.123.65

Shorewall, Freeswan and SuSE 9.1
I have been using shorewall and freeswan successfully for 3 or more
years now. But they have all been using the Linux 2.4 kernel. My current
configuration is (as the title suggests) using SuSE 9.1 which has a
2.6.5 kernel and freeswan 2.0.4 built-in.
After much reading and a lot of trial and error, I did get this
combination to work with Shorewall 2.0.9. It is happily talking to an
older Mandrake

Shorewall and CUPS printing interference
I''m having a problem with the Shorewall firewall and CUPS printing

a CUPS server and client for all of my tests.

CUPS was working fine to print to my Epson C84 (network connected via a

linux-ha heartbeat .. failover firewall
I have searched your FAQ''s and read the documentation on your site as well
as googling. I am not able to figure this out. If you have any ideas can
you please help.
I am using the linux-ha failover with redundant firewalls.
As part of the function of the linux-ha software consists a service called
heartbeat which is a connection from each failover node through a serial
cable or ethernet.

Port 32230 anyone?
Greetings,
Yet another strange pattern of traffic is being halted at the shorewall
firewall, but I have no idea what this is. IANA shows the ports
unassigned, and a net search yields only some of the same questions -
what is this port?
There are two machines as SOURCE, on the same class C network, adjacent,
even, sending one connect attempt to TCP port 32230 every five minutes.

Client cannot connect to Internet
Hello List,
This is my first post to the list, and as such I apologize for the length of
it. I tried to put as much detail into this as possible.
I recently installed Shorewall on a computer running Gentoo Linux. The
computer has 3 network cards in it, but I''ve only configured 2. Going the
cheap route, I''m connecting my client directly to my firewall using a
crossover cable.

mldonkey/edonkey - servers not connected
Hi,
I''m running mldonkey on same box as shorewall.
I follow this http://mldonkey.sourceforge.net/ShorewallConfiguration to open
ports for edonkey protocol
I add in /etc/shorewall/rules:
# eDonkey 2000
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 4662
ACCEPT net $FW udp 4666
but I could not connect to any edonkey server.
I check logs and notice that udp traffic on port 4666 is still dropped.
