Allow ALL internal traffic
Hi all,
its a real nightmare for me. Although i have read and searched the
web for two weeks i can`t get shorewall to work.
problem is that we have only one server that acts as fileserver (samba, nis,
nfs) and router/firewall for the lan. the server has two interfaces eth0 = lan
and eth1 = internet.
The only what we need is full access from the lan to the firewall and
restricted access

allow ssh access from net to fw?
Hi,
I''m trying to enable ssh (when that works, want to add:pop3s,smtp,web) from
the internet to the firewall but it does not work.
I managed to DNAT ftp to a host in the loc network (192.168.0.50) successful
but I don''t know why SSH:
Does not work for me:
ACCEPT net fw tcp 22
Works from the loc network:
ACCEPT loc fw tcp 22
I have tried also with (no success):
AllowSSH

help seeing DMZ from LOC
I have a three interface network (net,loc,dmz).
The internet interface (eth0) has a static IP.
Windows machine in the local network (eth1) use DHCP to get IPs from
the 192.168.10.0/24 netblock.
The Debian machine in the DMZ (eth2) gets a fixed IP through DHCP in
the 192.168.11.0/24 netblock.
The DHCP server is running on the firewall machine (not ideal, I know,

Shorewall + IPSec: help debugging why gw1<->gw2 SA works, but loc<->gw2 traffic doesn't trigger SA
Dear list,
I''m running Shorewall on a dedicated Fedora 7 box. Shorewall is working
well as an office DSL router (dynamic IP) with loc and dmz zones. I am now
trying to configure IPSec to connect a VPS, "casp", with a static IP to both
the firewall and to the loc network behind it. The host to host SA works
fine. However, pings from "loc" to "casp" can be

YASP (Yet another Samba Problem) and Shorewall
I''m running a Fedora Core 1 Samba server and Shorewall 2.0.1
Connections to Samba shares from both loc hosts and the fw host are
usually impossible, unless I boot the Server and connect a loc machine
to a Samba share before starting Shorewall. This requires manually
toggling the startup_disabled filename and starting Shorewall manually
after each boot.
I used the two-interface

thanks again for your sharp eye and speedy response. i have corrected the typos in the IP in the masq file. I am sorry to have to ask for more help but my pc''s on the local network can''t reach the dmz webserver using the webserver''s local or Public IP address. NFS config problem
Hello,
First let me say how much I appreciate Shorewall. I just downloaded shorewall-1.3.14.tgz, built and installed it without error, and had it working with only minimal fiddling with the config files.
I''m having trouble getting NFS to work with Shorewall. I followed the info on the "Ports required for Various Services/ Applications" page but I couldn''t get it to

from Shorewall 1.4 to 2.0.4, however my LANs stop having internet
access.
I have a server with shorewall 2.0.4 installed and 3 interfaces.
eth0 and eth1 are interfaces to a LAN and to my laptop and eth2
is the net interface.
I have masq like:

Strange DNAT problems with shorewall 1.4.8
I''ve had some issues with my network, and I''ve had to reconfigure my
Gibraltar CD. It runs shorewall 1.4.8, and I have a 2-interface setup, so
I downloaded the relevant files from the install page.
Masq and such works, but I''m having a problem with my port forwarding. It
works for port 22, but it doesn''t seem to work for any other port.

IPSEC/L2TP Local and External Internet Access at same time through two interfaces?
Hey
First, apologies if this went out twice. I sent the original email from an odd email configuration (essentially from an alias of what I signed up as). I searched and noticed that my post did not appear and I did not get a bounce back so I was confused. I waited a few days before resending. So apologies if this goes out twice. I am not trying to spam.
I was hoping someone could help me with

What am I missing
Hello,
I am looking at the shorewall, and so far I like what I see, but I have
one question.
I installed the firewall with, zones: fw, loc, net and work.
Where the work zone is a VPN zone to my work intranet
The policy file is the default policy file, with the added policy to
accept connections from fw to net, i.e. it contains
work loc ACCEPT
loc work ACCEPT
loc net

Intermittant Samba glitch
Hi there,
Let me just start by saying that I am a bit of a Linux newbie, but that Shorewall seems an excellant product. The issue I''m reporting wont stop me from using it, it still does 99% of what I need.
Anyway, I have a resonably simple two interface system. My server (HatMannz, P3-900MHz with a RAID-1 array of 80GB IDE drives running Red Hat 9.0) connects to a cable modem via eth1

problem with masquerading with shorewall
Hello,
I''m not sure if this has been asked before but I would like to
ask assistance for this problem I have.
I installed gentoo for my firewall/gateway and installed dhcp and shorewall.
Currently, I can ssh, ftp, remote desktop connect, ping, etc (anything
I can think of) from an internal computer inside my network to an
external IP, except I cannot surf the net. I can ssh/ftp to
