NPM and code-size
(NPM: new pass manager; LPM: legacy pass manager)
In a first quick experiment today I compared code-size of the LMP vs. the NMP for the CSiBE benchmark (and some other), and this shows code-size increases with the NPM that would probably be unacceptable for us. So, now I am wondering how/if we need to mitigate this, and have a bunch of questions.
As I've noticed quite some activity around

Newbie Configuration of 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11.0
I have installed Samba with a depot I downloaded from the HP-UX Porting
and Archive Center. We have an intranet site on an HP-UX 11.0 box, and
ultimately, my goal is to have links on the Web pages open up files
(Word docs, etc.) on various Windows machines (XP, 2000, NT).
I'm having difficulty getting Samba to work at all. I've scoured past
newsgroup posts, and I'm not finding

Best practice for setting ACL
Hello forum.
I''m in the process of re-organizing my server and ACL-settings.
I''ve seen so many different ways of doing ACL, which makes me wonder how
I should do it myself.
This is obviously the easiest way, only describing the positive permissions:
/usr/bin/chmod -R A=\
group:sa:full_set:fd:allow,\
group:vk:read_set:fd:allow \
However, I''ve seen people split each

identifying convergence or non-convergence of mixed-effects regression model in lme4 from model output
Hi R community!
I've fitted three mixed-effects regression models to a thousand
bootstrap samples (case-resampling regression) using the lme4 package in
a custom-built for-loop. The only output I saved were the inferential
statistics for my fixed and random effects. I did not save any output
related to the performance to the machine learning algorithm used to fit
the models (REML=FALSE).

Memory allocation failed: Copying Node
Following code bugs with "Memory allocation failed: Copying Node" error after
parsing n thousand files. I have included the main code(below) and
functions(after the main code).
I am not sure which lines are causing the copying Node which results in
memory failure. Please advise.

[PATCH] efi/pxe.c: Allow ipv4 host names
EFI devices should be allowed to use host names for remote servers.
Only adds ipv4 host name functionality for efi devices.
Reuses core/fs/pxe/dnsresolv.c parse_dotquad code to implement.

getenv() in plugin not working
Hi - new to the list, can't find much on this using google.
I'm trying to setup the dovecot DRAC plugin as described here:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/PopBSMTPAndDovecot#DRAC
DRAC is installed and running using this startup command:
/usr/local/sbin/rpc.dracd -i -e 5 /etc/postfix/dracd.db
I downloaded the drac.c file linked on the above URL: http://www.dovecot.org/patches/1.1/drac.c

PATCH: Forcible delaying of UFS (soft)updates
Here's a patch against 4.8-RELEASE kernel that allows disk writes on
softupdates-enabled filesystems to be delayed for (theoretically)
arbitrarily long periods of time. The motivation for such updating
policy is surprisingly not purely suicidal - it can allow disks on
laptops to spin down immediately after I/O operations and stay idle for
longer periods of time, thus saving considerable amount

4.9 RC1 (i386) mplayer induced panic
All:
I cvsup'ed earlier this evening and am still able to reproduce this
panic at will. Command line, panic backtrace, dmesg, ldd output,
and mplayer version follow. If more information is needed, just let
me know.
% mplayer foo.mov [a quicktime file]

[PATCH 0/1] efi: DNS resolver
From: Sylvain Gault <sylvain.gault at gmail.com>
Despite having native network capabilities, UEFI 2.4 (the most widely deployed
at the moment) has no native DNS resolver. I propose here an implementation
more or less inspired by the one found in core/legacynet/dnsresolv.c.
Since it's non-trivial, I'd like to ask for a deep review of this code. I tried
to make it as strong as

[PATCH] pxelinux: open_file() returns a non-negative handle
From: Matt Fleming <matt.fleming at linux.intel.com>
The usage of open_file() is wrong in core/fs/pxe/pxe.c. Any
non-negative return value indicates success, not just a return value
of zero.
This bug was introduced in commit ba4fefa9b52b "core: change
load_config() to open_config()". The bug causes pxelinux to fail to
open configuration files.

[PATCH] MAC Address Ranges
Hi all,
I'm new here so bear with me. I am working on a project at work where
we are replacing 1000+ Dell servers.
When a new Dell server is delivered to one of our remote offices it
will PXE boot off of the existing Dell server and install openSuse and
then configure itself.
We also PXE boot windows PCs in the remote offices so we needed a way
to assign a large range of MAC addresses to a

Dear Javier,
The package has been updated and should work for you fine now. Note that
function mcp.fnc does not return the fourth plot (dffits) anymore. We still
have to figure out a way to compute

[PATCH] Trusted IRIX Support
I developed a better prototype quicker than I expected.
Please provide feedback. It's been a few years since I've used autoconf,
so I'm not certain the new defines were integrated correctly.
