CentOS on Fujitsu Hardware
Alle, I was wondering if anyone is using 4.X on any Fujitsu Primergy hardware and what type of experience they've had. I know that FJ provides separate drivers for all the supported hardware that are supposed to be RHEL4.X compatible, but I have my doubts. Best Regards, Camron Best Regards, Camron -- Camron W. Fast searching from android device with Dovecot/Maildir
Hello, I am using dovecot as an imap server, mail is stored in mail directories. Configuration is below. One mail directory has about 14 Gb of mail in the inbox and .Sent directories. Searching from an Android phone with gmail is slow or doesn't work (it times out). Is there a configuration for Dovecot that can improve this? A better e-mail client for Android? Thanks, John root at

Collecting system stats
Hi, I am trying to create a report across all my KVM hypervisors using libvirt API and I need some assistance in figuring out the right API calls. My report will contain the total available memory, CPU, disk across all hypervisors, versus the amount used by the virtual machines. This report will help figure out if we are running low on hypervisor disk, CPU or memory and if we need to add more. I

Selinux policy for puppet

When starting puppet from init.d with SELinux enabled it runs in xinitrc_t while it should (at least imo) run in unconfined_t. Running in xinitrc_t lead to *really* strange things. RAID support in kernel?
Hello. I'm setting up a computer that will run 'CentOS 6 server'. The MB is an Asus with a hw raid controller (Promise PDC-20276), which I want to use in RAID-1 mode. I noted (from a MB website) that it also needs a driver - which is probably why it's called a 'fakeraid'. So, I've been trying to determine if any recent kernels support this chip. Using

Slightly OT: FakeRaid or Software Raid
I have had great luck with nvidia fakeraid on RAID1, but I see there are preferences for software raid. I have very little hands on with full Linux software RAID and that was about 14 years ago. I am trying to determine which to use on a rebuild in a "standard" CentOS/Xen enviroment. It seems to me that while FakeRaid is/can be completely taken care of in dom0 dmraid whereas with

deleting FakeRaid -> what happens to the partitions/data
Hi A server has FakeRAID installed, I want to remove it to make it mdadm driven .... If I delete the FakeRAID including - disabling it in the BIOS - removing the dmraid driver from initrd - deleting all meta data from partitions - deleting all dmraid packages is the data still available on the drives, i.e. the partitions, filesystem and files are still ok? I know that FakeRAID controller

Default 4.4 kernel and NTFS?
I just installed Centos 4.4 and performed a Yum update to freshen all out-of-date files. I also have two IDE drives that are NTFS partitioned, but noticed they are not seen by the kernel. I visit /usr/src/kernels/2.6.9-42.EL-i686 and copy the Makefile.bak to Makefile and run make xconfig. Reviewing the supported filesystems, ntfs is not selected. Any reason why not? What is the easiest and

Alternative to laptop
I am considering buying a small, and therefore easily portable, computer as an alternative to the laptop I already have. Obviously it would not have battery, a screen, nor a keyboard etc. but more or less be an easily portable computing unit to move between offices where a keyboard and monitor(s) could then be connected. I want to run CentOS 7, later CentOS 8. The smaller, the better, however,
