Adding a static route in Shorewall
I hope any of you shorewall freaks would be able to help me with my problem. First a little network description: I have two zones: WAN net = eth0 (One IP address from my Internet Service Provider) LAN loc = eth1 (192.168.23.0/24) Default gateway (the Internet) for the local clients are 192.168.23.2 (the IP address of eth1) I have used all the guides at the homepage of Shorewall,

Problem with Shorewall/Routing VPN - LOC
Hello! I configured a pptpserver on my firewall and followed the pptp-manual from Shorewall. Login via VPN to firewall (internal ip: 192.168.10.2) is ok and I can ping this server via internal ip (and use it: add samba-shares, etc.). Unfortunately I can''t connect to other hosts in my intranet (LOC). Ping from vpn-client to clients in intranet fails, although Shorewall-Log shows an

--copy-unsafe-links, links preserved in source tree or local directory?
Hi, I'm a bit confused about what the '--copy-unsafe-links' option considers the 'source tree'. In the man page it says that for links pointing outside the 'source tree' the file will be copied, but when I try this, for all links pointing outside of the local directory the files are copied even though the links point to files that are in the directory tree that is

Weird operator behaviour
Hi, I have a dataset called 'fish'. fish$Species returns extract 1. When I use fish$Species != c("CRA","PHC"), i.e. I want all species except "CRA" and "PHC", I get extract 2 which is blatantly wrong. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? Discrepancy in the regression coefficients for Cox regression - PBC data set
Hi, When I run the following Cox proportional hazards model on the Mayo clinic's PBC data set (given in the "survival" package), the regression coefficients do not agree with the results presented in Table 4.6.3 (p. 195) of Fleming & Harrington's book. library(survival) data(pbc) ans.cox <- coxph(Surv(time, status) ~ log(bili) + log(alb) + age + log(protime) +

samba, wireless, winamp or windows media libraries - slow, hangs
I'm getting really poor performance when using samba with specific applications - winamp and windows media player, when building the media library. I keep my mp3 files on a debian server (2.4.23-1-k7). It is running samba 3.0.7-Debian. Most operations seem to work OK. I can copy a 10 MB file to or from the server in about 30 seconds. My client is windows XP. It connects to the server via

[Shorewall-users] Redirect loc::80 to fw::3128 not work (fwd)
I''m beginning to believe that the use of the last column in the rules file to designate redirection/forwarding is too subtle for many users. For 1.3, I think I''ll do something like the following: Current rule: ACCEPT net loc:192.168.1.3 tcp 80 - all New rule: FORWARD net loc:192.168.1.3 tcp 80 Current rule: ACCEPT net fw::3128 tcp 80 - all New rule: REDIRECT net

FW: Shorewall and selective access
Shoot! Sorry Tom. I thought I replaced your e-mail address with the shorewall list address. I got it working!!! I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Pays to write down what I want to accomplish versus flying by the seat mof my pants. The ACCEPT+ is G R E A T! Took care of some of my issues along with removing the redirect rule (yeah, yeah...I should have thought it over more

Hi All, sorry if I post again this e-mail but I think the first one was lost. I don't know if this is OT but I'm working in my spare time at a small hardware project that match to what's requested below. It's a board with Input/Output capabilities and 10Mbps ethernet interface. It has Microchip software TCP/IP stack on it. Being at a very beginning stage, you can see a little

iSCSI offload with Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709.
Hello all. We recently purchased HP Proliant DL380 G7 server and also a HP Lefthand P4500 G2 24TB iSCSI box. The server itself has Quad Ethernet based on the BCM5709 Chipset from Broadcom (NetXtreme II). My main question is about iSCSI offload mechanism, as iSCSI itself is pretty new to me but I have gotten a good hold on it tho. I have managed to setup and configured our Lefthand box into
