multiple ssh tunnels needing different rules
I have a firewall running Shorewall 1.3.13-1 from rpm on a redhat 7.3 box. The box has three nics assigned to zones loc net and dmz. We also have multiple vpn links accomplished via ssh tunnels, These links all come from dynamic IP addresses with known private subnets behind them. There are basically two types of networks these vpns connect, one with access to almost everything and one with

Setting up a routed DMZ
Hello all, I''ve read the shorewall guides and browsed through the mailing lists, but I haven''t been able to find out if the following is possible or not using shorewall. Our provider has given us 16 IPs + 4 in a separate range for our uplink. I would like to replace that router with a Linux box running shorewall with three interfaces. I want the DMZ to be a standard, routed

Shorewall config format
Hi, I''m a long time shorewall user and I like it very much. There is only one thing were I''m not always happy with: the config files. There has been discussion on the list about the comments in the files. My concern is that I loose overview over my configuration because of the many config files. Of course there are advantages too but I thinking wether another config format would

Not sure how to configure Shorewall 2.1.3
I have an access-IProm my isp that I configured my eth0 with. And I also have an IP-range assigned from my ISP that will be used on my servers connected to eth1. The IP-range is routed thru the access-IP. This is how my configfiles look like. Internal everything seems to work but not external. /etc/shorewall/proxyarp #ADDRESS INTERFACE EXTERNAL HAVEROUTE

RE: Setting up a routed DMZ -CLOSED
My sincere apologies to all on this list. After looking for returning packets with tcpdump and not finding ANY I called our provider to confirm our IP assignment. The IP range that I was given by my boss was incorrect. After adjusting the ip assignments, everything is working perfectly. Thank you all for your time in troubleshooting this, and I hope to be able to return the favor at some

Strange DNAT problems with shorewall 1.4.8
I''ve had some issues with my network, and I''ve had to reconfigure my Gibraltar CD. It runs shorewall 1.4.8, and I have a 2-interface setup, so I downloaded the relevant files from the install page. Masq and such works, but I''m having a problem with my port forwarding. It works for port 22, but it doesn''t seem to work for any other port. I''ve turned

Some DNAT''s work, some don''t
We''ve just upgraded to a new firewall machine, and a new version of Shorewall. We''re now on 2.04; previous version was 1.3.9b (!). So I''m pretty sure whatever problems we''re having are related to the big version jump. We''re using config files that exactly match our old (working) configuration (IOW, these are things which _were_ working on the old

Routing all connections through a OpenVPN tunnel
Hi all, I have set up a working OpenVPN2 connection between my Server and my gateway at home. Now I want all traffic to be routed through this VPN connection. Currently everything is going through eth1 to the internet (to the gateway of the University which forwards it to the internet :-). We must use a prox-server and because of this I am not abel to watch the real-Media streams on

VPN hardware?
I have a NetGear FV318 living in my DMZ, with one of its LAN-ports living in my LOC zone. What rules are needed in shorewall to allow a certain subnet to make connections to this device from the net zone? Do I define it as a tunnel in shorewall/tunnels, or do I just allow some selected traffic to the DMZ IP? I am not sure which of the docs are right for me in this case?

User sets or anything similar?
Hello I got about 20 different people using 20 different PC''s in my Lan. Five of them should have unrestricted access to the internet any time of the day. Yet the rest of them should only have access at certain timeframes during the day. Two of them should have no access at all. I am well experienced in writing rules (for the rules file) that make all this possible, yet i was
