IP traffic accounting and shorewall
Hi,
I need a suggestion about how to set up a shorewall configuration so that I
can log the traffic size being downloaded through a shorewall dedicated box.
I need to log time, source IP, size of the transfer, protocol(s) and ports,
destination IP (looking from inside the LAN, I mean :-)
Whenever possible, I''d like to resolve the source IP with our existing
internal DNS, so that I

Self-locking files...
Hi,
I've set up a samba server (2.2.7) on a Mandrake 9 (2.4.16xxx on X86);
everything works fine, except a little recurring problem:
*very* often, clients are forbidden to save the document(s) they've open
("locked file"); it's enough to modify one char of the filename and the save
goes fine, of course with another name...
I verified the problem, and also verified that

2.4.9-ac18; issues with '/'
Hello,
I just went back to 2.4.9-ac18 from 2.4.10 (i386), and then
for the first time migrated all my ext2 partitions to ext3. I
did this over a series of reboots, as I confirmed that indeed
things continued to work. The last step I took was to convert
/.
I have set up /etc/fstab to mount my 'ext3' partitions with
'auto', I suppose thinking this will make it easier to roll

Article on Fingerprinting Public/Private Keypairs

RSA1 fingerprinting and privsep
I was looking through the RSA fingerprinting code from a few releases
back, with an eye to being able to close
<http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=111598>. While it
works fine with SSH2, the fingerprint log message goes missing with
SSH1. I eventually realized that this is because auth_rsa() is called in
the unprivileged child, and so can't write syslog messages.

re: song fingerprinting
Since we talked about this before, I might as well announce that we've
released our song fingerprinting library under the GPL. You can grab
the source at http://sourceforge.net/projects/freetantrum/.
Sorry for the spam everyone. Back to vorbis talk.

Summer student internship placement at University of York / YCCSA / SEI (paid)
Dear R-lings,
I did not know which list to post to, because it is a studentship so not
really a job, so it did not fit the r-sig-jobs list .... and it is about
devloping an extension package interfaced with R .... I hope I did not upset
anyone. If so apologies.

Hai,
I see : ldap://lxcerruti.com
So its setup with a top level domain internaly. Correct ?
Check if resolv.conf contains:
search lxcerruti.com
nameserver IP-OF_THE_DC1
And make very sure you DNS request dont goto the internet.
Monitor you gateway and outgoing dns traffic. Just a warning about this.

Shorewall and ucarp for firewall redundancy
Has anyone toyed with using Shorewall in conjunction with the userland
implementation of the OBSD-based common address redundancy protocol?
Would like any preliminary feedback before I devote time to the project.
