Problem with 3.0.10 and 3.0.11 with 1 smbd process using 99% cpu
I've been having problems since updating to samba 3.0.10 on Debian 3.1
Below is the output of ltrace and gdb on the offending smbd process.
I tried upgrading to 3.0.11 and the problem still exists. Anyone have
any suggestions?

After about 20 seconds on the processes ltrace loops this

Weird extension behavior
Hi, I'm using Asterisk with two Cisco 7960 phones using SIP.
I'm seeing the following weird behavior:
SIP Phome 1 is extension 4002
SIP Phone 2 is extension 4003
I call 4002 from 4003 and that works fine.
I call 4003 from 4002, and it rings locally to 4002, never gets to 4003.
I'm able to send a config query packet to 4003 from the asterisk
console and get a response, when I send

"HTTP Connection Timeout" Trouble with Cisco 7960 Phone
Hello, I'm using two Cisco 7960 phones currently loaded and showing
Firmware POS3-07-4-0 (Version 7.4?) and I'm having a strange problem.
Whenever the phone is supposed to try to load anything over HTTP from
my Apache 2.2.x web server, the connection just sits and times out.
Nothing shows up in the Apache logs unless I hit cancel.
What could the trouble be?

Compiling Linuxthreads
I'm trying to compile Linuxthreads from ports on my FreeBSD 4.8 system
here, and for some reason I keep getting this:
You can use an experimental patch to reduce the number of
condition variable triggered context switches by defining
WITH_CONDWAIT_PATCH
Some unsafe calls to exit() can be detected by defining
LINUXTHREADS_DETECT_UNSAFE_EXIT, see files/README.FreeBSD
for more info.

Yay! We need more compiler people in this industry. :)

disaster recovery
In a fit of irony, while preparing to burn a CDROM
with some software I've been writing for about six months,
I did a rm *>o instead of rm *.o on an ext3 filesystem.
And I'm well aware that under normal circumstance you
can't undelete, especially a ext3 filesystem. However,
I need to at least *try* to recover this. I've built

Does it make sense to upstream some MVT's?
Hi,
Our backend for Pixel Visual Core uses some MVT's that aren't upstream.
Does it make sense to upstream them? I figure that as architectures get
wider, we'll eventually have "all" possible combinations of widths and
types, but on the other hand having code that isn't used by current
backends in tree isn't great.
These are the MVT's that we have added:

Does it make sense to upstream some MVT's?
Hi Sean,
I had to add ‘v16f16’ to our out-of-tree target, and this was to primarily to allow me to express lowering for all the OpenCL types (well, except for the ‘v3T’ types).
The trend does seem to be towards larger bit-width SIMD registers, and as you say this will increase in time; but perhaps instead of using a discrete enumeration combined with additional entries in several

Ideas for Shorewall 2.0
I''m beginning to think again about what will be different in 2.0. Here
are some thoughts.
a) User-defined actions will be emphasized.
- A library of actions will be available with names such as:
AcceptSSH
AcceptDNS
DropWindows (drops all SMB noise)
DropBroadcasts (Silently drop all Broadcast traffic)
...
The possibilities are nearly endless but should

Problem with 3.0.10 and 3.0.11 with 1 smbd process using99% cpu
I have this same problem on 3.0.10, and I also "fixed" it by deleting
the tdbs. My problem, had nothing to do with printing, it was happening
once I started winbindd with security = ADS.
Jerry, what would we need to do to track this bug down in the tdb code?
I have logs at level 10, ltrace output, and a backtrace.
Do you think that there were changes made to the tdb code in 3.0.12

I am running 1.4.8 and i have an external IP that is pretty well cut
up with DNAT to several different subnets. When adding DNS (UDP:53)

yet my DNS log is coming up empty its only seeing

Is there any way to mask or hide the INBOX label for Dovecot 1.2.x Shared Mailboxes?
Hello,
I'm setting up a new Dovecot sever to replace an old Cyrus server, and need to keep things as consistent as possible. I have a couple local accounts, like junkmail and notjunkmail that users get shared access to, and can drop things in to train sa-update. However, when users share over junkmail's inbox, it's displayed in the hierarchy:
? Other Users
? junkmail
? INBOX

Question about RAID 5 array rebuild with mdadm
I'm using Centos 4.5 right now, and I had a RAID 5 array stop because
two drives became unavailable. After adjusting the cables on several
occasions and shutting down and restarting, I was able to see the
drives again. This is when I snatched defeat from the jaws of
victory. Please, someone with vast knowledge of how RAID 5 with mdadm
works, tell me if I have any chance at all

cannot use password-file for userdb
OK, I am attempting to use the userdb connection to facilitate per user
migration to Maildir format from mbox. Here's the first user:
more /home/dovecot.passwd
health:$1$MCtvt/Tz$FmKqU/cbWlBhKnhc5W.Ko.:1152:1152:/home/health:userdb_mail=maildir:~/Maildir
The configuration was set up as:
userdb passwd {
}
I changed this to:
userdb passwd-file {
args = /home/dovecot.conf

Can I translate the userid to match the UW-POP3 server?
OK, I have been running the UW-POP3 server which currently translates
all login ids as lowercase (i.e. Anthony becomes anthony).
Now the Dovecot server is very flexible and currently I have not found
how to translate the upper case characters to lowercase.
What configuration setting will translate the userids to lowercase?
