ztdummy inaccuracy on linux-2.6
Hello,
I have some ugly numbers given by zttest for ztdummy on an AMD64 box

Heavy clock drifts inside of KVM guests (qemu-kvm 2.1.2)
Dear list(s),
we are running a cluster of virtual machines on ganeti 2.15.2 on top of
qemu-kvm 2.1.2. Hosts are Debian jessie (Kernel 3.16). We have big trouble
with timekeeping on guests, no matter if these guests are lenny, squeeze,
wheezy or jessie. Clock drifts heavily on some, others are fine. There is
no obvious pattern on which guest this happens and on which not, but it
seems the clock

clock, centos 4 and dual core?
Hi,
I have a dual core athlon server and it is gaining 1 day every 2 days
w/o time sync. Even with ntpd running, the time is not under control.
I must put a very frequent cronjob of 'ntpdate' to keep the time under
control. This creates big problems since winbind eventually stops
working so my users can't access their data.
Any ideas?

hardware clock drift and CDR
Hi,
I've noticed that one of my new servers (new mobo) if drifting slowly backwards in time (in aprox. 24 hours, system time drifts back 5 minutes).
I have an ntpd process which is supposed to sync with a lan time server but it's not quite working. So I'm launching a manual ntpdate or ntp-client once an hour and that seems to work.
However, suppose I update system time at every hour

clock sync/drift
Hi,
We have a little over 100 servers, almost all running CentOS 5.7.
Virtually all are Dell servers, generally a mix of 1950s, R610s, and
R410s.
We use NTP and/or PTP to sync their clocks. One phenomenon we've
noticed is that (1) on reboot, the clocks are all greatly out of sync,
and (2) if the PTP or NTP process is stopped, the clocks start
drifting very quickly.
If it was isolated to

drifting clock in domUs
Hello,
On a xenserver with several (39) domUs, we experience problems with the
system clock of the domUs. The clock seems to drift away several seconds
up to two minutes from the dom0 clock.
We do have set independent_wallclock=0. According to the docs (i.e.
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/InstallationNotes) that way domUs
should use the dom0 clock, but apparently that''s not the case.

Tyan Thunder K8SE S2892 Report
I had my eye on the Tyan dual-Opteron mobos for awhile. I tried to find
a posting *anywhere* sharing experiences with these boards under Linux.
No such luck. So placing myself under the heading "Where Angles Fear to
Tread," I went ahead and built a system anyway. Here's what I've learned.
The specs:

real time clock drift
This must be documented somewhare but I checked the Xen 3.0 manual and
the word "clock" doesn''t even exist in it. I checked the FAQ as well.
I am running Xen 3.0.1 and an AMD64 CPU. I found that DOMUs time clock
drifts ahead. I installed ntpdate and it reports to change the time but
it does not.

Mouse Cursor drifts in some directx games
Hello,
I am currently attempting to run some windows games through wine, specifically Fable - The Lost Chapters and The Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind and I am experiencing problems with my cursor drifting during game play.
When I start the game (as soon as the menu screen) the mouse is initially stable, but after I move the mouse it will begin to drift vertically down at a constant speed

pagecache corruption on Tyan S3870
A couple of months ago I reported some problems with a batch of Tyan
K8SSA (S3870) based machines. We are continuing to have an odd problem
with these boxes, and if anyone has seen something similar elsewhere,
I'd appreciate hearing about it.
These boxes are running Centos 4.4 x86_64 with kernel
2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp. They are dual Opteron 265's (dual core) with 4x2GB
DIMM's. The

Tyan K8SRE troubles with CentOS 4.4 i386
We have been seeing failures with CentOS 4.4 i386 (not x86_64) running
compute-intensive programs on Tyan K8SRE (S2891) Tymotherboards, running
Opteron 265's. This motherboard is used in the Tyan barebones box GT24
(B2881). We have these boards populated with 8GB of RAM, consisting of
mixed 2GB and 1GB sticks.
The symptom is that CPU-bound programs (may or may not be related to

eSATA drive enclosure of a full PC?
HI All,
I have a dilemma and I would appreciate advice
1. Get a good size case, mobo, processor, etc and put 8 hard drives it in and RAID them. (yes an 8 port SATA mobo). Running CentOS.
or
2. Get an eSATA enclosure that has room for 8 or 10 drives and just connect it to box?
I know that RAID is not a full proof backup, but I am looking for a solution to store all of my data, projects, music,

Motherboards
Does anyone have any experience with Super-Micro brand motherboards //
dual Xeon cpu's? Had to swap out my Tyan piece of junk and going back
with the S-M board. I believe it has similar north/southbridge chips on
it -- at least they are the intel MCH ICH5R and PXH plus the 82546GB.
One area that the Tyan board was seriously lacking in was in the
hardware monitoring department. The S-M

Good system board to use with TE410P?
Hi-
I'm looking for an appropriate system board to power a system with two (2)
Digium TE410P cards. Since these cards require the 3.3 volt PCI, I'm
considering vendors like Tyan for the motherboard.
Can anyone please tell me their experiences with the Tyan i7501 series
(Xeon-basd), or recommend an alternate motherboard?
Thanks

Centos 5.4 and TYAN s4985 motherboard....
Was wondering if anyone has any luck with the Tyan s4985 motherboard, I had
loaded up the latest 5.4 release and in installed most everything that I
wanted but when I loaded it up, as in processor wise it would lock up.
Funny thing I could still ssh to it but not do a su - or anything from the
console. I think it is kernel related and tried the previous kernel but it
still exhibited the same

Tyan S2891 and CentOS
I am trying to install CentOS to a server that has a Tyan S2891
motherboard, 2 Opteron 875 Dual Cores and 2GB of RAM.
I have been able trying to install over a network but the tg3 driver will
not load. I then installed from a DVD and on rebooting after the
installation I cannot get the network drivers to load and the RAID
controller in the PCI slot is not available.
It seems that when I do an

Opteron Mobo Suggestions
I've been planning to build a dual Opteron server for awhile. I'd like
to get people's suggestions on a suitable motherboard.
I've looked at the Tyan K8SE (S2892) and K8SRE (S2891) but would like to
find more Linux-specific experiences with these boards.
Some features I expect are at least 4 SATA (SATA-300?) ports, serial
console support in the BIOS, USB 2.0 and IEEE-1394
