We have also posted this on the linux bridge list (we needed acceptance first) and leaf list. Very thankful for your understanding. We are experiencing a very strange problem and would need some help. We have a Leaf / Shorewall based box (actually

Making FORWARD_IPV4=YES permanent / DHCP multiple routers
First, I'd like to configure my system to forward ip, to act as a gateway for my network. I've always used a script during startup to do this: echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ${UPLINK} -j SNAT --to ${IP_NAT} This works fine, however I want this permanent so I don't have to run the script on startup. I have the firewall setup with SNAT

OT: CentOS server with 2 GbE links to 2 GbE switches
Hi all, I am trying to come up with an architecture that has some redundancy. The idea is to hook up the two GbE LAN interfaces of a CentOS server to two Gigabit Ethernet switches. In case one switch goes down, there is a redundant path (the server is redundant too). Here is the idea: ----------- | GbE | PCs

Walkthrough available for bonding, bridging, and VLAN's?
Silvertip257, when you did this CentOS 6/KVM/bonding/bridging, did you ever get all the parts playing together correctlhy? I'm facing a setup with only two NIC's, and need for multiple trunked VLAN access, and bonded pairs, and KVM based bridges to get the VM's with exposed IP addresses. I can get basically any 2 out of the 3 server network components working, binding, VLAN's, or

equal-cost multipath in 2.6.7
I have question about multipath routing. I am running a 2.6.7 kernel (gentoo). I have a route with three nexthops on the same interface. I see a different nexthop being picked for different destination addresses. All is fine. Now if one of the nexthop goes down (arp entry times out and arp request doesnt get a response), does it remove the nexthop from contention and only use the remaining two

gateway failover with linux
Hi. I''m wondering if there''s a good way to configure a Linux firewall box to failover to a single backup server, while preserving connection state. This question has been asked before, but the latest reference I can find is from 2004, at which time Linux had no equivalent of OpenBSD''s pfsync, though Harald was said to be working on one. Did anything come of those

Using a Dual WAN Load Balancing Device
We have a client that wants to bond 2 DSL circuits instead of getting a T-1 (or similar) at their office to run their VoIP traffic on. We came across this Multihomed Gateway (MH200): http://www.cyberpathinc.com/mh200/details.htm Does anybody think this would work if installed at the client location handling NAT for 10 Cisco 7960's and connecting to our public asterisk server? My concern

TC not working well with bonded nics please help
Hi, I am facing a problem when I run tc on the bonded nic cards. When I run tc on a single nic card, it worked perfectly fine. But when I run tc on a bond of two nics, tc gives poor performance. The two nics were bonded in round-robin (load balancing) mode. I created a qdisc, class and a filter as follows: tc qdisc add dev bond0 root handle 1: htb tc class add dev bond0 parent 1: classid

Dual NICs for OCFS2
To avoid a single point of failure, we are configuring an Oracle cluster with two private NICs per node. They are directly attached via crossover cable to its peer on the other server (two-node cluster). How can we tell OCFS2 that it has available a second card? Here is our cluster.conf: node: ip_port = 7777 ip_address = 10.10.2.1 number = 0 name = neo

[Bridge] help setting up a linux bridge with spanning tree to allow multiple vlans accross multiple uplinks
For easy reading: http://www.karthaus.nl/r/ Hi, We used to have 1 single ip range (1.1.1.0/24) that had one uplink to a = switch of the colocation provider. Recently we got a second range 2.2.2.0/24 and a redundant uplink = directly on two routers. But our switch does not have spanning tree = protocol support so we cannot use them redundantly. We have set up the switch to have a vlan for both

samba resolves wrong wins ip address
Hello all, This has been making me crazy for a while, but it seems like a really easy fix. I just can't figure out what it is. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have two Linux machines existing on a mostly MS network and have samba running well on each. However, one machine resolves the wrong ip address of the other machine. Here's the setup. Machine 1: Laptop uses DHCP to

pxelinux - how to direct client to find source files for pxe loading
I've got a Fedora 13 box that I am using as a pxe server to pxe load client machines. Using dhcp, tftp, and http I have been able to succesfully pxe load clients. However I am now trying to serve up multiple images via a menu, and not having any luck in configuring my pxelinux.cfg/default file to direct clients to the appropriate source repositories. I do have the pxelinux.cfg/default file

bridging bonded NICs, centos6
Trying to think this through, hope someone can lend a hand. I have 3 eths I want to bond together and that seems simple enough. eth0,1,2 <-> bond0 , though not sure how this would be for multiple ip addresses needed for the virtual machines... perhaps eth:0, eth:1 etc....to bond0:1, bond0:2 ? then I want to bridge to my virtual machines.... I am going to be using virtual machines, each

as promised description of my XEN HA setup
Hi all, In threads posted by I believe Jonathan Tripley I promised to post my new XEN HA setup. Hope it can be of some use to some people. In this particular case I''m forced to use SLES 10SP3 with XEN 3.2, which excludes the possibility of using things like cLVM (which I don''t think I need anyway). So: Storage: I use two HP ML370 G5 machines with DRBD and heartbeat on
