Outgoing IP of forwarded requests
I have a linux server with 3 public IPs, and I use SSH tunnelling to connect to each of them. Let's call them: 1.1.1.1 (venet0:0), 1.1.1.2 (venet0:1), 1.1.1.3 (venet0:2). When I tunnel using 1.1.1.1, outgoing IP for the public is: 1.1.1.1. But when I tunnel using 1.1.1.2 or 1.1.1.3, the outgoing IP for the public is still 1.1.1.1. I've been googling for days, and tried relevant channels

Trouble pinging servers DNS name.
I can ping the virtual Linux servers NetBIOS name and access a share. Perhaps someone can examine the attached named.conf file for errors and/or omissions. My virtual Linux server (172.17.60.6) has been configured as a WINS server, and a PDC. I am not, however, certain how to configure it as a DNS server beyond what is in the attached named.conf file. Here are the results of pinging the

Multi-path routing only using last nexthop in default route.
I''ve applied julian''s paches to a 2.6.14 gentoo kernel with the appropiate options enabled, and i''m using a modified version of the mpath2.sh script also available on julian''s site http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/ Overall everything works nearly perfectly. Incomming connections to either the fios (PPPoE) connection, or cable modem get routed back out correctly. The

Resilience inquiry: What happens to samba clients if a domain controller fails?
Hello folks, I have been asked about the resilience of samba clients when faced with a domain controller failure. My client's environment has multiple Windows Domain Controllers (we'll call them dc1 - dc9). Assuming that domain replication operates as expected (and does, from Windows workstation point of view), what should I expect if (when) the domain controller that initiated a

[PATCH]: Port to Mac OS X/Darwin, misc
Below I've includes a patch which helps build OpenSSH outside from a read-only source tree, find OpenSSL on Mac OS X, and fix a typo. This applies to OpenSSH 2.1.1p4. You should already have gotten a note from Melissa O'Neil about a conflict with the crc32() symbol in zlib, which was causing a crash on Darwin. I've noticed another bug. If ssh is setuid, I get a permission

Security suggestion concering SSH and port forwarding.
Hi, sorry if it is the wrong approuch to suggest improvments to OpenSSH, but here comes my suggestion: I recently stumbled upon the scponly shell which in it's chroot:ed form is an ideal solution when you want to share some files with people you trust more or less. The problem is, if you use the scponlyc as shell, port forwarding is still allowed. This can of course be dissallowed in

dual-isp incoming traffic problems
I have two ISP connections, and am having some issues. I can connect to any services on the firewall, like the smtp gateway, but anything on the internal server only works from one connection. The lartc guide has a good example for what to do for services on the box, but leaves it open for how to handle services on an internal host. I''ve tried using iptables to mark the packets
