DROPPED SYN Packets
Hi,
One person, trying to access my website has troubles doing so. All other
users do not have a problem.
I have a cable modem, with a shorewall 1.4 machine behind it. On the second
interface of the shorewall machine I have a few machines, of which one is
the webserver.
Checking the logfile I see the following messages:
Aug 30 21:24:16 gatekeeper kernel: Shorewall:rfc1918:DROP:IN=eth1

Shorewall and CUPS printing interference
I''m having a problem with the Shorewall firewall and CUPS printing
interfering with each other. My Linux firewall machine is acting as both
a CUPS server and client for all of my tests.
Shorewall 2.0.13
CUPS 1.1.22-2
Linux kernel 2.6.9
CUPS was working fine to print to my Epson C84 (network connected via a
Netgear PS101 print server using lpd://PS101.IP.address/raw ) until I

vpn-zone wide open
Hello!
I am using shorewall shorewall-2.0.11-1 on fedora core2
(iptables-1.2.9-95.7). My box has 2 physical nicĀ“s plus one virt. ipsec
interface for a freeswan-vpn connection.
A few days ago, portsentry spit out a lot of connections from windows
clients (port 135, 445). Ooops.
I review my shorewall settings but could not find a mistake. So I took a
win-client and established a second

Intermittently denying access to webshop
Hello shorewall-users,
we have a strange problem where some of our customers cannot access our
webshop, but most of the customers can. I have been slowly eliminating
possibilities and am now left with either the firewall (Shorewall 1.4) or the
webshop server.
What appears a lot in the logfiles is:

Strange DNAT problems with shorewall 1.4.8
I''ve had some issues with my network, and I''ve had to reconfigure my
Gibraltar CD. It runs shorewall 1.4.8, and I have a 2-interface setup, so
I downloaded the relevant files from the install page.
Masq and such works, but I''m having a problem with my port forwarding. It
works for port 22, but it doesn''t seem to work for any other port.

dmz2dmz?
Hi
My situation:
I have two pc''s with public ip''s (192.159.56.206(webserver) and
84.196.123.65(mail-gateway)) in the dmz. The firewall (84.196.123.66) is
configures with proxyarp, so nothing is changed on the pc''s from when they
were not behind the firewall (i.e. they don''t have the firewall as gateway
(and they each have different gateways, only 84.196.123.65

hopeless - smb over bridged firewall
Dear List!
I use a shorewall 2.0.8 on a Debian sarge system. I use a DSL connection
to the Internet (ppp0 - eth1 to the modem) and a bridge to the local
lan. The bridged config i''ve made with bridge.html from the shorewall
site. The Bridge is between local net and a openvpn tap device. This
works. I ccan make tunnels, and a can make a lot of things through the
firewall. I can get a list

Defining "trusted" hosts/nets on a single interface system
Ok, I give up. I tried, really hard, before asking but I must be the
most stupid shorewall user on the planet :(
My laptop runs a single eth0 interface and knows Net and Firewall as
zones and the default "inbound" policies are Net->Any DROP and >ny->Any
REJECT.
Now at home I have my trusted 192.168.174.240/29 subnet which hosts my
very trusted 192.168.174.242 host and I

Port forwarding on Shorewall box behind NAT ADSL router
Hi,
Before I go any further, I''m no networking expert, and the sheer volume
of documentation on the Shorewall website makes my brain hurt..
Some time ago I moved from an area with cable internet to an ADSL only
area. While on cable, I''d set up an old P3 box running Gentoo as a
firewall/gateway/file server, running shorewall (currently v2.2.3) and
dnsmasq. I''d

Fixing to bite the dust?
I've been getting LOTS of messages like the below in the daily log, and
from all indications, it appears to all be related to the cpu;
the machine is just over a year old, and was the old vortex.wa4phy;net
server from the downtown co-lo site. Aside from huge log files, and
lots of other fluff, numerous problems of other nature have started
cropping up. Anyone have any suggestions as to

Desktop Over NFS Home Blocked By Firewalld
Hi,
Just installed CentOS 7 that serves a home dir automounted over nfs.
SELinux is disabled. If I go to the client (oldish version of Fedora)
doing su - username works fine and the nfs export is mounted and I can
see all files and everything seems well. But trying to actually login
to the desktop from the client machine does not work. It starts to
login but then just hangs with a black screen.
