akamai problem behind linux router
Hello,
This is not really a shorewall problem. But just wanted to check if this
problem rang a bell with any of you.
I have a linux router with slackware 9.1, and kernel 2.4.27
Everyting works ok except for access to web sites that use akamai from
behind the router.
>From the router machine itself I can access those sites without problems.
But machines behind nat, take forever to access

web redirect question
Hello
Is it possible to add exceptions to a web redirection rule such as
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.1.0/24 -d 0.0.0.0/24 -p tcp
--dport 80 -j DNAT --to 10.10.10.1
the idea is to redirect all traffic to a web login page, and once
authenticated (by an external program). add an exception rule to avoid the
web redirection
what would be the way to set up the default redirect rule on

with how to install zttool with slackware10, the normal make zttool fails,

chan_capi on slackware10? cannot compile :-( why?
I'm trying to compile chan_capi-0.5.4 on Slackware 10, but I have bunch
of errors.
(By the way, can I use chan_capi for ISDN card with winbond w6692cf
chipset?)
I'm not a linux expert, still :-)
Before compiling, when I type "modprobe capi" to load capi module, and
then "lsmod", i get list of modules:

Hola,

how to separate stuck row elements?
Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to separate elements in multiple rows
that actually should appear in different columns. I have a file where
in certain lines there are elements not separated, and they certainly
should appear in different columns (an example of the file is
attached). The point is that I do not want to manually add a space in
the txt file, however, I did not

ipp2p: Unaligned access in search_all_ed2k on sparc64
Hey guys,
I''ve just built a sparc64 (Ultra/5) based firewall with ipp2p compiled
as a module and I''m constantly getting the following message in my logs:
Kernel unaligned access at TPC[100f8490] search_all_edk+0x20/0x4c
[ipt_ipp2p]
I''m running the following versions:
- Kernel 2.6.22
- ipp2p 0.8.2-r4
- iptables 1.3.8-r1
Any thoughts?

an OS X installer
Now that I've got the recent build of Icecast running (thanks
everyone), I'm wondering about an OS X installer. Icecast would be even
more palatable to the less-techy OSX users if there were an installer
for the binary. As long as the installer checked for the dependent
libs, everything would be straight forward.
Has this been discussed before?

Is shorewall comptible with hipac?
Hi all,
http://www.hipac.org/index.htm
I have just discovered this great project. It seems it surpasses
standard netfilter in performance.
The documentation states they are more or less compatible with
standard netfilter, but anybody has tested if it is compatible with
shorewall? Tom, have you?
Regards

State rules placement
Hi all,
I have seen Shorewall places the state verification rules (-m state
--state ESTABLISHED,RELATED) as the first rule in a zone2zone chain.
This means that state checking is done after all the rules involving
from this zone to this zone. As you could have a lot of them, wont be
better to place them just after checking the state is not invalid? This
will mean a lot of packages will be

Bind failed: Can't contact LDAP server
With 3.0a15, samba can't seem to connect to the ldap
server. AFAIK the ldap server is working correctly --
it currently authenticates some users for apache.
My smb.conf contains this:

ldap server = localhost
ldap port = 389
ldap suffix = "dc=calmiron, dc=com"
ldap admin dn = "cn=Manager, dc=calmiron, dc=com"

Firewall stress test
Hi all,
We want to do some stress testing of firewall configurations/hardware.
We have discovered hping that seems a great tool for this, but funny
enough Shorewall cuts it !!! even when you leave ports open :)
So besides hping, any tool for this? Why is shorewall cutting this
traffic?
Thanks in advance. Regards.

ipp2p problems
Hi all,
I have found problems in p2p traffic detection. The ipp2p module works
fine but in shorewall the rules written for this protocols never match
because the initials p2p connection (login) match in ''-m state --state
RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT'' rule before ''-m ipp2p --ipp2p -j DROP''
rule, so netfilter never filter p2p traffic. I have had to run

I was analysing the source code of the libvirt in order to find how to

Firewall failover
Hi all,
We are investigating on firewall failover design. I have searched the
net and found that projects like LVS have it mostly solved for their
side but that netfilter lacks it.
Of course, a simple failover of the firewall is available using things
like VRRP (KeepAlive software) but without state syncronization, and
that is preciselly the part we need to investigate.
Is this issue

No rule to make target all.R, needed by compiler.rdb building R 3.4.1 from source, Scientific Linux release 6.9 (Carbon)
Hello,
I am trying to build R from source on Scientific Linux release 6.9
(Carbon), Linux version 2.6.32-696.3.2.el6.x86_64 (Red Hat 4.4.7-18).
I load the needed modules and run:
*./configure --prefix $install_dir --with-blas --with-lapack
--enable-R-shlib 2>&1 | tee config-R-$version.log*
The "configure" command seems to run ok:
*R is now configured for
