Event handling in R
Dear R-helpers, I've just started playing with getGraphicsEvent() in R, and was wondering if there is a simple way to stop this function waiting for input after a pre-defined time, instead of relying either on a non-NULL value from one of the event handlers or for a user-interrupt for it to halt (as per the R manual). The only way that I've thought of to make this work is using

workgroup but also a domain logon server. The NT box happily accepted mounts from users originally only known only to Samba. Everything fine again, but the next day they came in and told me about people finding complete new mounts on their workstations. To describe this: A user normally has C: local H: \\SAMBASRV\HOMES Z: \\SAMBASRV\HISGROUP These are mounted by a local script and

are being offered by the server. You can check also what shares are being offered by the windows boxes the same way. I wonder why the other windows machines are not showing up in network neighborhood? Try sharing some things between windows machines. Maybe you have something misconfigured on the windows side. There is a script, findsmb, which comes with samba. First turn off nmbd (killall nmbd) ,

"unix password sync" and RedHat 5.1
Hello! I'm trying to use unix password sync = true on an Intel-RedHat 5.1 samba server, because I want to have one program (e.g. smbpasswd on the unix comand prompt) to change unix and "encrypted samba" passwords; changing passwords from clients is nice but secondary. I used FLAGSM = -DLINUX -DALLOW_CHANGE_PASSWORD -DFAST_SHARE_MODES -DNO_ASMSIGNALH -DGLIBC2 -DQUOTAS LIBSM =

Solaris 2.4 and 2.0.6: socket ?
Hello! We just upgraded our samba-1.9.18p10-Server on solaris 2.4 to samba 2.0.6: configure and compiling worked o.k., we didn't see any error messages. we did not touch smb.conf The NT-clients can not conect to the server: "Server is not avaiable", in the logs we get the message: Copyright Andrew Tridgell 1992-1998 [1999/12/07 22:32:29, 1] smbd/files.c:file_init(216) file_init:

Unfixed bugs in latest R-patched
A new version of pqR is now available at pqR-project.org, which fixes several bugs that are also present in the latest R Core patch release (r66002). A number of bugs found previously during pqR development are also unfixed in the latest R Core release. Here is the list of these bugs that are unfixed in r66002 (including documentation deficiencies), taken from the pqR bug fix and documentation

I will get a smbd process started. (If this is incorrect please let me know ;) But this morning I did a quick ps -ax on my machine and found *two* smbd -D in the process list. But as far as I know there is no connection to the samba server right now. I did connect to and disconnect from the server yesterday but I would think that that connection would have been released by now. Can anyone

getGraphicsEvent on X11 and event queuing
... I just realized that setGraphicsEventHandlers or getGraphicsEvent could have an 'onIdle' callback, to be called somewhere in the polling loop of gevents.c:163 - I think this would solve my problem #2 in a minimally disruptive way. And route print? Do you have any servers on the WAN? (or is everyone connecting to the servers THROUGH the WAN?) Can you see the samba machines at all in network neghborhood? What happens when you type in the UNC of a samba server manually? (i.e. \\SAMBASERVERNAME) I hope I can help you, and I'm trying, but I'm not a samba guru. -Dan PS. R 2.12.0 is released
I've rolled up R-2.12.0.tar.gz a short while ago. This is a development release which contains a number of new features. Also, a number of mostly minor bugs have been fixed. See the full list of changes below. You can get it from http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/R-2/R-2.12.0.tar.gz or wait for it to be mirrored at a CRAN site nearer to you. Binaries for various platforms will appear in

samba PDC with NIS, or other solution?
We have a network with Windows NT/2000, SGI's, Linux, Macintosh, AIX. Our user account/passwords for all our machines is handled by NIS on an AIX machine. Our unix machines autheticate through NIS. Our windows machines authenticate by loging on to an NT server acting as the PDC, and that PDC has a service installed on it called "WinDD NIS" (made by Tektronix I think) which contacts

getGraphicsEvent on X11 and event queuing
Hi R-Devel, I've been working on an oscilloscope project using an Arduino microcontroller board. I found that it's quite easy to get realtime updates, e.g. 30+ frames per second, if I read data from the board in a little Rcpp library. I have to use dev.hold() and dev.flush() to keep the plot from flickering, which restricts me to the "cairo" X11 device. I'd like to be able

for this process is "root", that is correct. The PID 7247 is one of the users, but the UID shouldn't be "root" and should be the username that was authenticated during logon. Anyone have same or similar problem? and how do I prevent this problem from happening again? I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Will Sun wsun@jpl.nasa.gov (818) 354-2311 Return-Path:

copy d:\bugs.ps \\ouessant\lexmark after having deleted all the samba log files and restarted the SMBd daemon from the SWAT Web interface. This leads to the INTERNAL ERROR, see samba.oulx Now, to locate the problem, I tried the same kind of command on the same file, bugs.ps, but using the SMBCLIENT application from the Linux server itself, without changing anything, nor restarting the SMBd
