Experimental CI tool for R
Jeroen,
This is great! It is definitely a good basis to build on.
However, I wonder why your macOS setup is so extremely stripped down (not even Cairo, tcltk nor X11 - and not TeX, either) and as far from what we actually use as possible (using gcc instead of clang, openblas etc.).
How do you plan to go about managing the build flavors? I think it would be great if there was a process whereby

Problem installing libxml2 under Homebrew
i am trying to install xml2 from CRAN, and it is throwing an error
that it cannot find the libxml2 library configuration.
The thing is that pkg-config seems to be set up correctly:
$ echo $PKG_CONFIG_PATH
:/usr/local/opt/libxml2/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/local/opt/libxml2/lib/pkgconfig
$ pkg-config --cflags --libs libxml-2.0

For-loop dummy variables?
Hi everyone,
I've got a dataset with 12,000 observations. One of the variables
(cleary$D1) is for an individual's country, coded 1 - 15. I'd like to create
a dummy variable for the Baltic states which are coded 4,6, and 7. In other
words, as a dummy variable Baltic states would be coded 1, else 0. I've
attempted the following for loop:
dummy <- matrix(NA, nrow=nrow(cleary),

[nbdkit PATCH 0/5] ci: Get to green status on FreeBSD and MacOS
I took the easy route of crippling what I couldn't get working, on the
grounds that partial coverage is better than none now that we have
Cirrus CI checking commits on additional platforms.
This series got me to a green checkmark:

but depends on an as-yet uncommitted patch in libvirt-ci:

Latex and r
Dear R?ers
I?m trying to get a summary table using latex and summary in the rms package to no avail. I?m running R 2.10.1, Mac OS X snow leopard and I have the mactex 2009 distribution installed. Any obvious things I?m missing?

ctable error with Hmisc and Sweave (on a Mac)
Hi, pretty new with R and LaTeX here...
I'm trying to use the latex() function from the Hmisc table with Sweave. When I try:
pdflatex myfile.tex
I get an error that reads:
! Undefined control sequence.
l.22 \ctable
It seems like this is an optional package for Tex that I haven't installed? My googling skills have neglected to locate instructions for how to install ctable on a Mac,

possible bug in R CMD Rd2pdf
When I include the macros \packageAuthor, \packageDescription,
\packageTitle, \packageMaintainer in a XX-package.Rd file, R CMD Rd2pdf
fails with
$ R CMD Rd2pdf mpra
Hmm ... looks like a package
Converting Rd files to LaTeX Error : mpra/man/mpra-package.Rd:6: file
'./DESCRIPTION' does not exist
This does not happen if I comment out 4 occurrences of these 4 macros in
mpra-package.Rd.

[LLVMdev] LLVM 3.6 homebrew core formula

Is there a particular reason why the core ones do not support asan?

1.1~pre17 is no longer available for OSX from Homebrew.
Hey Folks,
It seems that Homebrew for some reason arbitrarily decided to banish all
of the --devel flavors from all of their installable packages. I
couldn't find any discussion as to why or what they intend to replace
the function with.
**update; this is where they decided to do this;

[LLVMdev] LLVM 3.6 homebrew core formula
Dear LLVMers,
I am working on a project that depends on LLVM 3.6. For Homebrew, the core formula is pointing to LLVM 3.5.1 and LLVM 3.6 is only available as a homebrew tap. Since no core formula can depend in versioned taps, would it be possible to get the llvm36 (since already released) formula into homebrew core and replace the 3.5.1 formula?
Thank you very much,
Sebastian

While using R CMD check: LaTex error: File `inconsolata.sty' not found
Hi,
While using R CMD check I get the following Latex error message which occurs when creating PDF version of manual:
LaTex error: File `inconsolata.sty' not found
I am using Windows 7 (64-bit) and R 3.0.1. I have MikTex 2.9.
I see that the incosolata.sty is present under \doc\fonts folder. How can I eliminate this problem?
Thanks,
Ravi

segfault issue with parallel::mclapply and download.file() on Mac OS X
I have an lapply function call that I want to parallelize. Below is a very
simplified version of the code:

files <- c("A3_1.0.0.tar.gz", "ABC.RAP_0.9.0.tar.gz")
res <- parallel::mclapply(files, function(s) download.file(paste0(url_base,
s), s))
Instead of download a couple of files in parallel, I get a
