African IP addresses list
Hi all,
I am trying to block all IP addresses from Africa due to a high rate
of fraudulent orders coming from them.
I have some found some websites that can generate a range of IP
addresses. However, you would have to enter the ranges by country. I
can use those perhaps but that would mean I would have to get the
ranges for each country one by one.
Has anyone here a list of addresses from

Using yum with CentOS-2 mirrors
Hi all,
I was having yum errors while updating our CentOS-2 box. Further
reading lead me to a readme file on the mirrors
(http://mirror.centos.org/centos-2/readme.txt) and it gave me the new
URL to use for CentOS-2 mirrors. I have edited /etc/yum.conf with the
new URLs but I'm still having issues with yum giving me "ValueError:
unpack list of wrong size" errors.
Has anyone been

yum-fastestmirror inconsistent exclude behavior
Hi guys,
I'm trying to figure out something wherein excluded repositories for
the yum-fastestmirror plugin are still being used by the system.
To illustrate:

socket_timeout=3
hostfilepath=/var/cache/yum/timedhosts.txt

"Site down for maintenance" - How is this accomplished?
Hello everyone,
Although we use CentOS primarily on our servers, this query is
actually more of a general networking question than something specific
to CentOS.
In the next week or so, we shall be migrating our in-house servers to
a data center. While we're doing that, we'd like to show a "Site down
for maintenance" message while the servers that hosts our websites (we

fetchmail can't talk to dovecot
Hello,
I have dovecot q1.0-0_22.rc7 up and running on a server: I can read
email from squirrelmail just fine. When I try to download email with
fetchmail, however, I get the result below. Why is that happening? In
dovecot.conf I have:
protocols = imap imaps pop3,
so why should pop3 or imap fail? Where should I look?
(I'll fix the certificates problem after I've managed to get in

Postgresql 8.1.x on CentOS 3.6
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know if there are any Postgresql 8.1.3 RPMs for CentOS 3.6?
I've looked at the Postgresql website but I couldn't find anything
under RHEL3/CentOS3. I've tried installing the RHEL4 RPMs which seem
to work. Unfortunately, I'm getting errors whenever I try to compile
PHP5 from source.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Matt

Getting info on hardware RAID
Hello everyone,
I'm doing an audit of all our servers here (there aren't that many
maybe around 5-10) and one of the things I'm doing is taking note of
each server's hardware specs (processor, memory, etc).
I can't seem to figure out how to get the information for the hard
drives. The drives are in a hardware RAID5 array and are all SCSI
types. I would like to get each

Overwrite target of ln
Hi all,
Sorry if this seems too basic.
But is there a way to overwrite the target of a symbolic link without
first deleting the symlink itself?
For example, if I have this:
public_html -> releases/b2b-20080228
... and there's a new update, I can then just do the following:
$ ln releases/site-latest public_html
I tried using the -f option but it doesn't seem to work as expected.

IDLE timing issue - dovecot or fetchmail issue?
Hi guys,
Thanks for the great product. We've used dovecot for ages as our
internal mail server and it works great!
I've recently started using fetchmail 6.3.9 (with IDLE enabled) to
download mail from our ISP (Pair networks). The ISP is running Dovecot
1.1.16. I am unable to get the info about the dovecot config at this time.
The IDLE support in fetchmail allows us to deliver

Samba Administration Tool recommendations
Hi All,
I have a project which is to build a customized Linux distribution
with a focus on deploying a Samba as Primary Domain Controller. It's
pretty much like Trixbox but instead of Asterisk and VOIP, will be
focused on Samba.
Right now, I am looking for a solution for an administrator to easily
manage the service. Of particular importance would be to easily add
workstations and set up

I see these messages every time fetchmail pops my mail. I don't understand
what certificates it is talking about, or how to straighten this out.

fetchmail on demand
I hoping this is an RTFM ... and somebody can point me at the correct
'FM' :-)
I've just spent a while setting my new Debian , allways-on box in what I
suspect is a generally useful configuration.
I have fetchmail(1) collect mail from many mailboxes via pop3.
I store these mails in different mboxs according to rules in procmail(1)
I then offer these out to the household via imap

Can Dovecot replace fetchmail?
I'm using fetchmail to grab mail for multiple accounts from an external
IMAP server and drop it into local mailboxes via SMTP. It polls the remote
server every two minutes. Can Dovecot replace this functionality more
elegantly, using IDLE to avoid the polling necessary with fetchmail? I'd
like to designate that mail for specific accounts on the external server be
moved to specific

Monitor email for office365.com with fetchmail
I am trying to use fetchmail to monitor box in office365.com.
Its not working.
Is there a "better" way to monitor and inbox ?
I have verified all the ports are open, using 993, using ssl, using
sslproto SSL3 etc..
Anyone done this ? Got it working.
I basically have:
