Error in message printed by lbfgsb
Hi
I have a FORTRAN version of the L-BFGS-B algorithm and I was comparing it
to the code in the lbfgsb.c file available at R-4.0.0.tar.gz
Everithing looks the same, except for those two lines that must be printed
by the prn3lb function in case of an error (lines 3559 and 3561 in
lbfgsb.c):
case -5: Rprintf("l(%d) > u(%d). No feasible solution", k, k); break;
case -7:

Please,
I need help in the part stable from R.
I can?t plot the distribution function of a stable law. I obtained
bad results. But the density function is OK.
How can I do it?

About Acoustic Echo Canceller
Hello.
I'm from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil and I'm
trying to adapt
speex_echo.h (speex-1.2beta3-win32) to our video-conference software code.
We are working on amplitude values, but I realised that in order to AEC
works, one has to convert amplitude to frequency and filter the echo
frequencies. So, my question is:
Do I have to manually convert amplitude samples to

Non-procedural access to columns of a matrix
Hi,
I would like to have an index for a column in a matrix encoded in a
cell of the same matrix.
For example:
x = matrix(c(11,12,13,1,
21,22,23,3,
31,32,33,2),byrow=T,ncol=4)
In this case, column 4 is the index. I then access the column
specified in the index by:
> for (i in 1:3) print(x[i,x[i,4]])
[1] 11
[1] 23
[1] 32
>
> for (i in 1:3) {x[i,x[i,4]] <- x[i,x[i,4]] + 5}
> x

Version of L-BFGS-B used in optim etc
Hi.
I just noticed the paper by Morales and Nocedal
Remark on "Algorithm 778: L-BFGS-B: Fortran Subroutines for Large-Scale
Bound Constrained Optimization". TOMS 2011; 38(1): 7
http://www.ece.northwestern.edu/~morales/PSfiles/acm-remark.pdf
which describes a couple of improvements (speed and accuracy) to the
original Netlib code which AFAICT is that still used by optim()
via f2c.

optim(…, method=‘L-BFGS-B’) stops with an error message while violating the lower bound
Hi, Mark et al.:
Thanks, Mark.
Three comments:
1. Rvmmin was one of the methods I tried after Ravi
directed me to optimx. It returned NAs for essentially everything. See
my email of this subject stamped 4:43 PM Central time = 21:43 UTC.
2. It would be interesting to know if the current

"modified outside" bug.
Hi!
I can't find this bug in FAQ:
VisualC++ 5.0 alwais complains
"This source file has been modified outside the source editor. Reload?"
Sources are located on the last samba server under Linux. System clock
on Linux is set to Greenwich, zone offset applied.
I tried to set NT clock to be more than Linux, this does not help.

Function for multiple t tests
Hi,
I want to run t.test() for several variables among two groups, and I
would like to skip the tedious process of collecting information to
assemble a table, but I am not sure if the function I want already
exists. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
I have a working example, as required by the posting guide:
my_swiss = swiss[-1,]
my_swiss$facto = rep(1:2,nrow(my_swiss)/2)

FXDialogBox and the destroy and close methods
Hi everyone!
I constructed a FXDialogBox instance. When I call the
TXTopWindow?s close() method or the FXWindow?s destroy() method, the
FXMainWindow becomes unavailable for use. It becomes inoperative. What
can I do to solve this problem?
Very thanks,
Waiting for answer.
