Rcpp - Linking to DLL from another package?
Hi, I am trying to make a package B that extends another package A. Package A uses Rcpp, and I want to extend a class X used there. So package A has src/X.h and inst/include/X.h class X { ... } src/X.cpp X::X( arguments ) { ... } My package B wants to do this: DESCRIPTION [...] LinkingTo: Rcpp, RcppArmadillo, A Imports: Rcpp, RcppArmadillo, A src/Y.h class Y: public X { ... } src/Y.cpp

lapack in R 2.11.1 (Ubuntu 10.04.1)
Hi there, I'm trying to install the package RcppArmadillo in my R 2.11.1 which I installed and regularly update via Ubuntu's repositories. When I try to install RcppArmadillo from CRAN I get: > install.packages('RcppArmadillo', lib='~/myRlibs') [...] g++ -shared -o RcppArmadillo.so RcppArmadillo.o fastLm.o -L/home/matias/myRlibs/Rcpp/lib -lRcpp

LinkingTo and C++
Hello, I've been trying to make LinkingTo work when the package linked to has c++ code. I've put dumb packages to illustrate this emails here ; http://addictedtor.free.fr/misc/linkingto Package A defines this C++ class: class A { public: A() ; ~A() ; SEXP hello() ; } ; Package B has this function : SEXP say_hello(){ A a ; return a.hello() ; } headers of package A are copied

coerce SEXP type to C++ matrix class and back
Dear all, I am testing a simple C++ function that takes a double matrix as argument and which uses routines provided by the C++ Armadillo package. I am aware of the nice capabilities of Rcpp and RcppArmadillo which helps simplifying a lot and that I have already successfully tested. However, I had a hard time trying to figure out how the coercion from a REALSPX matrix to an arma::mat =

R Lapack – why a subset?
Hi, Why doesn't R include a full Lapack but only a subset? My cda package (now archived) relying on RcppArmadillo has broken multiple times on CRAN over the past few years following updates in the underlying Armadillo library, Every time it follows the same pattern: Armadillo adds a function to solve a specialised linear system more efficiently, and the corresponding Lapack routine is not

rbinom in RcppArmadillo?
What is the RcppArmadillo way to make binomial draws from a vector of probs, similar to what rbinom does in R? Thanx! -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/rbinom-in-RcppArmadillo-tp4683593.html Sent from the R devel mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

new function to tools/utils package: dependencies based on DESCRIPTION file
Hi all, Packages tools and utils have a lot of useful stuff for R developers. I find one task still not as straightforward as it could. Simply to extract dependencies of a package from DESCRIPTION file (before it is even installed to library). This would be valuable in automation of CI setup in a more meta-data driven way. The simple function below, I know it is short and simple, but having it to

Armadillo error in R extension
Is there anyway with some experience in using armadillo in R C++ extensions? My problem is the following: I programmed a function in a header looking like #include <armadillo> inline arma::vec foo(input) { ... do something return an arma::vec object } compiling this via R CMD INSTALL packagename (PKG_CXXFLAGS = -I/folder/of/armadillo and armadillo_bits in my package) I get the

LinkingTo on Windows
Dear List, R packages may specify a "LinkingTo" attribute to specify dependencies to the source code (mainly the header files) of other packages. Unfortunately, it is not possible to also have a reference to the generated library (.dll on Windows) of the other package. So including a header file from another package to call an (exported) function will just not help. I've tried

LinkingTo for 2 packages
Hello, One of our packages contains C++ code that needs to be compiled against 2 other packages. So the LinkingTo field in DESCRIPTION looks like this LinkingTo: FLCore,FLash Both packages are also in the Depends field. In R 2.6.2, first thing we noticed was that both names could not have any space between them, althoguh the example in the html version of "Writing R Extensions" does

Cluster: Various GCC, how important is consistency?
On a cluster that is based on RedHat 6.2, we are updating to R-3.3.1. I have, from time to time, run into problems with various R packages and some older versions of GCC. I wish we had newer Linux in the cluster, but with 1000s of nodes running 1000s of jobs, well, they don't want a restart. Administrator suggested I try to build with the GCC that is provided with the nodes, which is

RcppArmadillo compilation error: R CMD SHLIB returns status 1
Dear all, running the example by D. Eddebuettel (http://dirk.eddelbuettel.com/blog/2011/04/23/) I get an error message. Specifically, the R code I was taking from the above example is ### BEGIN EXAMPLE ### suppressMessages(require(RcppArmadillo)) suppressMessages(require(Rcpp)) suppressMessages(require(inline)) code <- ' arma::mat coeff = Rcpp::as<arma::mat>(a); arma::mat

Linking to native routines in other packages
Hello, I'm currently working on making Rcpp use the feature described here more: http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-exts.html#Linking-to-native-routines-in-other-packages To give more context, Rcpp has for a long time built what we called "the Rcpp user library", i.e. a library we could link against user the linker. We were then producing appropriate linker flag with

new function to tools/utils package: dependencies based on DESCRIPTION file

Cannot link mypackage to 2 other packages
Hi, I need to link mypackage to 2 other packages so I can call some C functions defined in these 2 packages from mine. I've tried Depends: packageA, packageB LinkingTo: packageA, packageB as suggested by the "5.4 Registering native routines" section of the "Writing R Extensions" manual but then only packageA is seen at compilation time (gcc is called with

O/T good c/c++ code for LU decomposition
Dear R People: Could someone recommend a good c/c++ code (or Fortran) for LU decomposition, please? Sorry to bother about this. I'm trying to do some "non-R" work that requires a matrix inversion. Thanks, Erin -- Erin Hodgess Associate Professor Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences University of Houston - Downtown mailto: erinm.hodgess at gmail.com
