ICU_531 and sjlj vs.seh
It seems that version of ICU_531 in <http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/goodies/> as of June 25, 2014, was compiled using sjlj exception handling (current gcc-4.6.3, perhaps?). I say that as I am trying a 4.9.2 distribution which uses seh handling, and I get errors like: gcc -std=gnu99 -m64 -shared -s -mwindows -o R.dll R.def console.o dynload.o editor.o embeddedR.o extra.o malloc.o

ICU
I've just been looking at ICU with an eye to reworking the unicode queryparser patch to use it. A few things have jumped out so far which make we wonder if it's the best option. I don't really know what the alternatives are though (currently QueryParser uses glib's unicode routines). The first is that there seems to be bad version skew. Ubuntu breezy (the latest release) has

R Compilation gets stuck on Windows 64
In the file MkRules.local.in, I see the line: USE_ATLAS = NO which I believe needs to be changed to YES. But how do I specify the BLAS file *libopenblas_haswell-r0.2.20.a *and its location? proposal for use ICU for timezone convertion on windows and a draft patch
Dear All, Last week I found an issue about R Sys.timezone function on Windows and send email to this list. This week , I read quite a few docs and codes about windows time zone to IANA time zone conversion. and found in unicode.org's ICU library has a function ucal_getTimeZoneIDForWindowsID which do the time zone convert. Microsoft also use it for time zone convertion in dotnet 6 and

hello, I asked about this simulation a few days ago, but still i can't get what i need. I have 2 units: icu and regular. from icu I want to take 200 observations from binomial distribution, when probability for disease is: p=0.6. from regular I want to take 300 observation with the same probability: p=0.6 . the distribution to detect disease when disease occurred- *for someone from icu* - is:

linear models and colinear variables...
Hi! I'm having some issues on both conceptual and technical levels for selecting the right combination of variables for this model I'm working on. The basic, all inclusive form looks like lm(mic ~ B * D * S * U * V * ICU) Where mic, U, V, and ICU are numeric values and B D and S are factors with about 16, 16 and 2 levels respectively. In short, there's a ton of actual explanatory
