The mock is an R6 object containing a rawConnection, along with a finalizer that closes this connection when the object is removed. So far so good. I?ve recently been getting CRAN errors due to the rawConnection not being closed in

S3 generics without NS and cleanEx()
Good morning,
we recently observed a problem with importing S3 generics from a foreign
package (without namespace), defining a S3 method in a package _with_
namespace and the `cleanEx()' function which is automatically generated
and executed before examples are run by R CMD check.
To be more precise. Package `strucchange' defines a S3 generic

"°" not accepted under MacOSX
I am developping a package (pgirmess) that since long does not go
through CRAN MacOSX checks, just because I have this command in one of
the examples.
text(mydata[,3],mydata[,4],paste(round(dirs,0),"?"),cex=0.7)
It makes:

[Q] R CMD check signals error on code that works from UI
Add the following to example section of a dot-Rd manpage:

long vector support
All,
At first glance, a recent commit to R-devel (
https://github.com/wch/r-source/commit/2c182014ecc8c2407a89092c9162d86046bd18da)
appears to be related to long vector support. But as Henrik Bengtsson
points out at
https://github.com/HenrikBengtsson/Wishlist-for-R/issues/97#issuecomment-562659134,
writeBin() still prohibits long vectors. Are there any plans to add long
vector support to R

Samba spoolfile name
L.S.
Situation:
I am running Samba 2.2.7a as my DPC in a small business network with win98/ME clients.
A big Fiery printer/scanner/copier device is also part of this network. It has its own printserver.
Since Win98/ME can not print to an LPD queue directly, I have setup Samba to spool the printjobs send by the clients to the Fiery server.
All is working well, but there is a small problem.

troubles with R CMD check and examples under Ubuntu gutsy
Dear listers,
I was used to package pgirmess under Windows with everything OK, but,
for the first time, I had a trial this afternoon on Ubuntu 7.10 gutsy (I
have a double boot computer and work more and more under unix) and R
2.7.0. Everything went OK except this:
sudo R CMD check pgirmess

Question of R CMD check
Hi all,
Today, i just installed the newest R version 2.10.1 and other necessary
tools for building R package under windows,e.g. Rtools, perl. All are the
newest version.
After the correct configuration under windows (configuration should be
correct), i use it to re-check my old package. I found the following prolem

concurrent requests (Rook, but I think the question is more general)
This question involves Rook, but I think the answer will be general
enough that it pays to post here. At any rate, I don't know enough to
know whether this is a Rook only issue or a general R issue.
Here's what I'd like to do (and indeed, have code that should do this):
1. Start R, Rook
2. Start an analysis via a HTTP request to Rook. This analysis uses
.Call() to some compiled C

Start R from bash/bat file and end in interactive mode
I have a r-script (rook.R) that starts a Rook server. To present users
from having to start R and type in source("rook.R"), I want to create
a bash script and bat file that starts R and sources the script.
However, to keep the Rook server running R should not close after
running the script and stay in interactive mode. This proves more
difficult than expected.

paths and Rook problems only in OSX CRAN binary package?
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to diagnose a problem in my R package, but it is a little
tricky since it seems to occur only with the Mac OSX CRAN binary build.
My package starts a Rook server and opens a browser. On my own system
(details below), when I build the package, I have no trouble. The Rook
server starts and the page loads in the browser.
However, if I've installed it from CRAN, I

Problem building/checking library that requires input from user
Hi all,
I've got a package i've written that i am trying to check, build, and
install. This is my 1st time doing this, so apologies in advance... ;)
The package that I've written requires input from the user. It needs to know
sample sizes and then runs some calcs, (sample sizes are just integers), and
it gets this info from the user as

Strange error in R CMD check --timings
This SO post: https://stackoverflow.com/q/76583828 describes a strange R
CMD check error. Depending on the contents of a comment in one of the
examples sections of a help page, an error like this could be triggered:

regularly lattice & neighbors
Dear R-users,
Is there a procedure to identify neighbors in a regular lattice using either a
"rook" or a "queen" criterium? To be more specific, suppose:
My lattice:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
"Rook" Neighbors
1 has neighbors 2,4
2 has neighbors 1,3,5
...
5 has neighbors 2,4,6,8
"Queen Neighbors"
1 has neighbors 2,4,5
2 has neighbors 1,3,4,5,6
For each case,

R CMD check: Uses the superseded package: ‘doSNOW’
Dear list,
When I run an R CMD check --as-cran on my package (pROC) I get the
following note:

The fact that it uses the doSNOW package is correct as I have the
following example in an .Rd file:

Request: tools::md5sum should accept connections and finally in-memory objects
AFAIK there is no hashing utility in base R which can create hash
digests of arbitrary R objects. However, as also described by Henrik
Bengtsson in [1], we have tools::md5sum() which calculates MD5 hashes of
files. Calculating hashes of in-memory objects is a very common task in
several areas, as demonstrated by the popularity of the 'digest' package
(~850.000 downloads/month).
