Problem when trying to run Java in R:
Hello All, Although running Java from R used to work, for some mysterious reason, it's stopped. Today when I tried to load a basic JDBC driver (or the sample .jinit()) code, I got: - JavaVM: requested Java version ((null)) not available. Using Java at "" instead. - JavaVM: Failed to load JVM: /bundle/Libraries/libserver.dylib - JavaVM FATAL: Failed to load the jvm library. I

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
I am not a Mac user, but I do use Linux and I would recommend not running R with sudo unless you are an admin ninja. That defensive practice would render the answer to your question moot. It is possible that your problem may have started with inappropriate use of sudo in configuring java, but configuring Java is not on-topic here. -- Sent from my phone. Please excuse my brevity. R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi! I?m on macOS 10.13.3 and just installed the new Java 10 using Homebrew Cask. I also have installed R with Homebrew. Everything seems to work fine, however I just get different outputs if I run sudo R CMD javareconf or R CMD javareconf. With sudo I get pointed to Java 9 and without sudo I get pointed to Java 10. I really don?t know why. Without sudo: $ R CMD javareconf

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi Jeff!! I really don?t know if running R CMD javareconf with sudo has posed a problem here, now or in the past. What I know is sometimes it?s the only way to really config it, if I don?t run with sudo, in the end it asks me if I want to overwrite the configuration from root override rw-r--r-- root/admin for /usr/local/Cellar/r/3.4.4/lib/R/etc/Makeconf? (y/n [n]) y override rw-r--r--

RJava question(class not found with rJava's vm, though found with alternate vm)
Not sure if this the right place, but I can't seem to subscribe to the rJava mailing list. Sorry for the noise. I have a jar file in the CLASSPATH variable. On running .jinit and checking .jclassPath, i can see the jar file containing the class. Yet when trying to instantaite the class, i get a class not found error. Now If if, create my own vm (see below), and then run .jinit (which will

status of Java & rJava?

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi Ista! Thanks a lot for your support!! It puzzles me because it?s the first time that something like this happens to me. I?m aware that root and user don?t have the same environmental variables here. However, I don?t know why root chooses Java 9 and my user chooses Java 10. Isn?t Java 10 ready to be used as a root? It seems that we are going to have to wait until rJava releases a new

Security issue with javareconf script (PR#12636)
Full_Name: Tom Callaway Version: 2.7.2 OS: Fedora 10 (Linux/x86_64) Submission from: (NULL) (96.233.67.230) Recently, Debian identified a security issue with the javareconf script in R. I confirmed that this is still unfixed in R 2.7.2. The following patch resolves the issue: diff -up R-2.7.2/src/scripts/javareconf.BAD R-2.7.1/src/scripts/javareconf --- R-2.7.2/src/scripts/javareconf.BAD

R on EC2 and R CMD javareconf
Hello, I am using EC2 to launch several instances. On each instance, I perform the following commands yum -y install R (installs R-2.6) R CMD javareconf sleep 10 wget rpackage.tgz R CMD INSTALL rpackage.tgz Now, rpackage.tgz needs to be built with jni libraries. When the instance is fully up, i log in and check if rpackage was successfully installed and find out it wasn't. Running R CMD

linking with libFLAC on Mac OS X
Hi everyone. I'm working on a FLAC plugin for the Java Media Framework (JMF) on Mac OS X. I'm having some trouble linking to libFLAC... When I first try to link to it, it tells me the libFLAC.a TOC is out of date, so run ranlib. So then I run ranlib, and it seems to be okay, except I then get undefined symbol errors: % cc -bundle

R CMD javareconf in r-base-dev 2.6.0
Hi Dirk, hi list, I just ran into a slight problem while building the recommended packages for CRAN in a chroot environment against the fresh backport of your R 2.6.0 packages. It seems that R CMD javareconf wants to change files in /etc/R during the build, and since I am not building the packages as root in my etch chroot, this fails, even if I am using fakeroot. My workaround was to simply

Java Bindings on a Mac
I had to make some changes (sorry no diff available) to "configure" in 0.9.9 of the bindings so that I could compile them for OS X 10.4.8. Essentially I replaced the the paths to jni.h with /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Headers. It compiled without error and created both libxapian_jni.so and xapian_jni.jar in the "built" subdirectory when I ran "make

Again, teach me speex AEC please!
Dear all: I need the help desparately. The code is attached below. If you guys don't mind take a look at the code below and see how to fit speex's AEC into it. Help me look at the #defines, and give me some suggestions on the AEC parameters, I totally have no idea about them. Feel free to do anything with the code, if it is by any chance valuable. Any ideas or suggestions or sharing

problem with bindings configure script
All, I'm trying to compile xapian core and bindings under cygwin. I have no issues running the configure script and then compiling core, but bindings is giving me some issues. I'm running the configure script for bindings as follows: in xapian-bindings-1.4.0 directory. ./configure XAPIAN_CONFIG=/home/John/xapian-core-1.4.0 --with-java and had two issues. The first I solved by doing

7.0 issues fixed? upgrade timing?
1. I have a realtek network card and am using a cable modem router. Does anyone know if fixes for problems with these (see below) have been backported from HEAD to RELENG_7? 2. Is this a good time to upgrade to RELENG_7? 3. I read a post last week that advised that 7.1 is a long way off. Appreciate any advice on use of ULE 3.0 and ZFS prior to 7.1 and a comment on what is holding up 7.1. Thanks

java bindings 1.0.0 - jni.h not found
Hi all, I am new to Xapian and want to use it with Java. In order to do that I tried to compile the Java bindings. I set XAPIAN_CONFIG and invoked "configure". However "./configure --with-java" exits with an error. Point of failure: checking for jni.h... no checking for jni.h in /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/include... no checking for jni.h in

R's DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH override problems on Mac OS X
In Mac OS X native version: The R shell wrapper (bin/R) overrides default library search path with DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH and adds (among others) /usr/X11R6/lib. This causes problems when modules need (directly or indirectly) libraries from Apple's frameworks which are masked by X11. Examples for such packages are SJava and RGL. SJava needs JavaVM which in turn loads OpenGL framework. RGL

problem with bindings configure script
James, That worked, thanks, but with a caveat. I don't know if this is a limitation of autoconf/configure, but jni.h wants to include jni_md.h, which is located in JNI_INCLUDE_DIR/win32, which is not automatically searched. I was able to work around this by moving jni_md.h from the win32 sub directory to the same directory as jni.h. No idea who's bug this is, if it is legitimately a bug,
