buggy ANSI escape sequences in R prompt
I guess that R does not know about ANSI sequences, and it calculates the
width of the prompt including the characters in the sequences. You cannot
do much about this, except maybe use a prompt that has two lines. You can
put the colored text and whatever you like in the first line, and the
second line can be non-ANSI.
Note that this works in the terminal, but does not work in RStudio. RStudio

withr::set_makevars
Hi All;
This problem has come about from trying to learn some of the review practices recommend by rOpensci. One of them is to use the package goodpractice. After installing goodpractice, it kept failing on my own packages which are under development, and I was concerned something was funny in my own , so I have a fork of the package rerddap, and I tested goodpractice on that. I get the

withr::set_makevars
withr:::set_makevars() can give that error if the makefile named by the
'old_path' argument (default "~/.R/Makevars) contains more than one
definition of a variable of the form 'name=value'. You can see what file
it is reading and its contents by using the trace() function:
trace(withr:::set_makevars, quote({ cat(old_path, "\n");

New Package fansi: ANSI Control Sequence Aware String Functions
fansi provides counterparts to the base string manipulation functions substr, strwrap, strtrim, strsplit, and n(z)char that account for ANSI CSI SGR control sequences.? ANSI CSI SGR control sequences [1] can be used to format text in terminals that support them.
For example the control sequence "\033[31m" causes text that follows to render in red, and the control sequence

Somewhat OT: OpenOffice.org Headless issues as non-root user
Hi,
I've installed recently OpenOffice.org 3.1 on Centos 5.3. I use OOo in
headless mode. I have no problem when running as root, but I'd prefer
run it as non-root user (oooserver user). When I run the script in
debug mode this is the output:
sh -x /tmp/ooo-headless-nonroot start
+ . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions
++ TEXTDOMAIN=initscripts
++ umask 022

ssh-keygen: sanitize ANSI escape sequences in key comment
Hi,
Today I fiddled around a bit with my OpenSSH public key files, and I noticed
that ssh-keygen prints most non-printable characters in the comment as-is when
showing the fingerprint of a key. This can lead to confusing output on the
terminal when the comment contains ANSI escape characters which are interpreted
by the terminal. The attached public key file serves as an example, which, when

escape char clutter makes prompt unreadable
hey folks,
Im using pxelinux to boot a Soekris box (which works fine to a default
image)
Ive added a bunch of LABEL, KERNEL pairs,
but I cant read the display; Im buried in escape codes.
Ive captured some of it to a typescript file:
it starts out kosher, but goes unreadable rather quickly,
0005520 \r T F T P .
0005540 / \b \r

Japanese Search
Hello,
I'm trying to debug search command with Japanese 'ISO-2022-JP' codec.
ISO-2022-JP codec needs to keep character cases until convert to
UTF-8.
For example:
* '\033[$B%s\033[(B' means a character sounds 'N'
* '\033[$B%S\033[(B' means a character sounds 'Bi'
It causes a trouble in searches with Japanese.
I found imap/imap-search.c/add_new()

reference for console printing
Hi there,
Can someone suggest a good reference or documentation for the syntax used for printing to the console in comboot programs? I have found a few examples but they don't go into much detail. Thanks for the help.
Example:
void
clear_screen
{
fputs("\033e\033%@\033)0\033(B\1#0\033[?25l\033[2J", stdout);
}

identify duplicate from more than one column
Hi all,
I've searched everywhere to try to find out how to do this and have had no
luck. I am trying to construct identifiers for couples in a dataset.
Essentially, I want to identify couples using more than one column as
identifiers. Take for instance:
obs unit home z sex age
1 015029 18 1 1 053
2 015029 18 1 2 049
3 015029 01 1 1 038
4 015029 01 1

The 'filter' function in the popular 'dplyr' package masks the one
that has been in the stats package forever, and they have nothing

Problems with Samba 4.5.16 - configuring a second failover AD DC and joining this to an existing domain SAMDOM
Hello I wonder if anyone here could possibly help me? I am using Samba
version 4.5.16-Debian (version information taken from sudo smbstatus) on
Raspbian and attempting to prototype some future network infrastructure
with a couple of Raspberry Pis.
So far I have sucessfully created a Samba 4 AD DC

Asterisk 1.4.11, res_features.so, SegFault
Hi All,
I have a really strange issue occuring where if I run "show dialplan" or
"dialplan show" or "dialplan show parkedcalls", then asterisk dumps core.
It only appears to happen with contexts that are created within
res_features. I am able to display all my other dialplans, but, every
time I try to just do a normal "dialplan show" asterisk core dumps
