Link R with Tcl 8.6 on Windows
Dear all, I am working on an R package intended for CRAN that requires Tcl version 8.6 because of the TclOO tcl extension and the -angle option for canvas text items. R for Windows currently still ships with Tcl 8.5. Does anyone have experience with linking R under Windows to a Tcl interpreter of version 8.6? When I link R 3.2.2 (installed from the binary on Windows 8) to a custom Tcl

R Compilation gets stuck on Windows 64
Hi Avraham, What a coincidence, I have been following this post of yours: https://www.avrahamadler.com/2013/10/24/an-openblas-based-rblas-for-windows-64-step-by-step/ Looks like this post is slightly older than what you have shared previously. It is strange that you did not get the attachments. I am pasting the contents of the MkRules.local here:

Including C Code for Tcl and Tk in an R package
Dear R Community, I adapted the C-Code found at (http://wiki.tcl.tk/25685) implementing fast image resizing for Tk images for my R package. The C Code differs for tcl/tk version 8.4 and 8.5. I have the working code for both versions. How do I integrate this C-Code into my package so that R CMD INSTALL takes care of compiling the function correct for each OS and tcl version? (such that I can

R Compilation gets stuck on Windows 64
Hi All, I am trying to compile R from source on a 64 bit Windows. I have downloaded and installed all the third party software as per the R - documentation. The compilation starts fine and after a while it stops with the following error message: D:/Rtools/mingw_64/bin/../lib/gcc/x86_64-w64-mingw32/4.9.3/../../../../x86_64-w64-mingw32/bin/ld.exe: cannot find -lRgraphapp collect2.exe: error: ld

creation of package failed
Dear all I am trying to build a package, and get the error message: ""packaging into .tar.gz failed"". I have also installed the same package directly from a locally created zip file. In this case, the package is put correctly under C:\R\R-2.15.0\library. However, when I check the package, I get another error message, stating "ERROR: compilation failed for package".

Compiling a Tcl extension for an R package
Dear R developers, I plan to upload a first version of my R package RnavGraph to the R CRAN server in a week or two. However I'm still struggling with an image resizing function written in C as a tcl extension. I did all my development in Ubuntu, and everything works fine in Ubuntu, however my attempts to compile this C function under Windows or OSX have all failed. I provide a minimal self

tcltk error compiling R 2.13.0 under Windows 7 x64
Hi All, I am trying to compile R 2.13.0 r53834 on 64-bit Windows 7 (home premium) using Rtools212.exe from Duncan Murdoch's site. I (think) I followed the installation guide for Windows. When installing Rtools, made sure I was installing 64-bit tools (including tcltk), etc. I created a copy of MkRules.local where I selected 64 bit instead of 32 architecture. When I run:

Problems with building R from sources
Hello all, I'm trying to build R 32bit from source in a Windows 64 machine. I have followed the steps in "R Installation and Adiministration" ( http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html#Getting-the-source-files) or at least I think I did everything described. I am not sure if I have installed the libjpeg, libtiff and libpng files though. I have upzipped them in the

R pkg install should fail for unsuccessful DLL copy on windows?
Hi all, I am having an issue related to installing packages on windows with R-3.6.0. When installing a package that is in use, I expected R to stop with an error. However I am getting a warning that the DLL copy was not successful, but the overall package installation IS successful. This is quite dangerous because the old DLL and the new R code could be incompatible. I am definitely not the

R pkg install should fail for unsuccessful DLL copy on windows?
thanks for the tip Jan. However it would be nice if I didn't have to handle this myself for all of my packages. (and teach my students how to do that) BTW I tried to disable staged installation, and the issue still happens: th798 at cmp2986 MINGW64 ~/projects/max-generalized-auc (master) $ R_INSTALL_STAGED=FALSE R --vanilla -e

Notes on building a gcc toolchain for Rtools (but not multilib)
Hi, [This is a follow-up to the "New version of Rtools for Windows" thread in January, but I just subscribed and don't know how to reply to an old thread -- my apologies.] I was able to use the nuwen distro to build a gcc 4.9.2 toolchain and use it to build the latest R-patched with it. Below are some notes about what I did; I hope they will be useful for keeping Rtools

R Compilation gets stuck on Windows 64
Please note that building R on Windows is documented in "R Installation and Administration", including links to external software. Particularly there is a link to texinfo which is part of Rtools. The documentation is maintained and it is a sufficient source of information for building R on Windows. https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-release/R-admin.html
