readlines() truncates text file with Codepage 437 encoding
Appended is the file -- you need to tell your e-mail software to use one of the MIME types that R-devel does accept; text/plain is what I chose ((Yes, as R mailing list server "operator", with a bit of detective work, I was able to find the "uncleaned" e-mail and extract the attachment from it)) Martin Maechler ETH Zurich -------------- next part -------------- An

Hey Folks: New to R and learning as I go, but really, I know just enough to get myself into trouble. I've waded through everything up till now, and don't see anything in the search that is directly helpful for the POS that I've created. The GOAL: All I want in the world is a program that performs 1-way ANOVA's on every column in a data set (taking the first column as the

Handling userland char ** pointers
I''ve been trying to get access to a userland string that''s behind a second level pointer using DTrace, but I can''t seem to get it to work. I started with the example on the Team DTrace Tips and Tricks slides: trace(copyinstr(*(uintptr_t *)copyin(arg0, curpsinfo->pr_dmodel == PR_MODEL_ILP32 ? 4 : 8))); And when I couldn''t get it to work, I started

mount.cifs: iocharset/codepage
I am trying to access a share on a samba server using charset iso8859-1 from a client using the same charset via CIFS. "smbmount" has separate options for the server/client charset, using "codepage=cp850,iocharset=iso8859-1" gets the correct behavior in my case. Unfortunately, the parameter for specifying the server codepage doesn't seem to exist in "mount.cifs"

smbpasswd "codepage.850" error
When I use the smbpasswd utility that came with samba-1.9.18p5-1, I get the following error: load_client_codepage: filename /etc/codepages/codepage.850 does not exist. It's true. There is no /etc/codepages directory. If you have one, maybe it belongs to an rpm package, and you can tell me which one (rpm -qvf /etc/codepages/codepage.850 to see)? Or is this a direct product of samba, and I

Hebrew codepage conversion
Hello, Following is a patch against samba 2.0.7 that allows the conversion by samba of DOS codepage 862 filenames (as used by e.g. the hebrew version of MS win 9x) to iso8859-8. I only tested this on my machine, a Debian 2.2 with updates (e.g. glibc 2.2) but the patch seems trivial to me enough to send even though I understand you will probably won't be able to test it against a hebrew

Charset and codepage problems
Hello to you all! I have some nice problems with Fedora3 and Samba: I have some different Redhat-servers running (Redhat 9 with samba 2.x) and Fedora-Servers. Is there a simple way to exermine which charset and codepage is used on the Serverside and how to adjust the client site, so that all special characters are shown correctly? I have rad many newsgroup-postings saying: try and error, but

light.exe : error LGHT0001 : Invalid IDT file: 'some temp dir\codepage.idt'
Hello, additional keywords: MSI Component I am trying to use WiX on updated Fedora Core 8 using wine-1.0-1.fc8 rpm. Using both latest stable (2.0.5805) and beta version (3.0.2925) of WiX I receive error message regarding `codepage.idt'. I attach a testcase with log. I hope I am poking at the right place. It seems that some have successfully ran WiX under Wine so I just hope it is a simple

codepage/UnicodeData: tcase() data
Three questions: - Where did the file come from? - Does tcase() stand for toggle case (or otherwise effectively the same thing)? - Should uppercase characters like, the latin capital A, have tcase() data in addition to the lcase() data? -Gene "No one ever says, 'I can't read that ASCII E-mail you sent me.'"

Codepage of folder names
Hi, I have run into a problem configuring DoveCot 0.99 on a Linux server that handles Windows users. The server uses UTF8 on its filesystem but the Outlook IMAP folder names are sent in what looks like CP852. As a result, folder names that use national characters are damaged, which in turn breaks a webmail application running on the same server. A natural solution would be DoveCot

smbmount: mount option "noauto" causes codepage and/or iocharset to fail
I've been trying several times now: # mount -t smbfs -o credentials=/etc/samba/private/credentials,codepage=cp850,iocharset=iso8859-1,noauto //machine/share\$ /mnt/share Causes: # ls /mnt/share/directory Sp?rsm?l.txt While this: # mount -t smbfs -o credentials=/etc/samba/private/credentials,codepage=cp850,iocharset=iso8859-1 //machine/share\$ /mnt/share Causes: # ls /mnt/share/directory

German codepage and Samba3.0alpha20
Hi there, Greetings from Vienna :) About 2 weeks ago I tried - waiting anxiously for group mapping support which isn't available yet on the 2.2.x versions and won't ever be - the 3.0a20 version. Everything fine, I could join the domain as non-root member of the windows "domain admins" group, could assign local power user privilege to domain users as expected (with

Multiple codepage support
Having searched the documentaion and the archive, and having this alluded to, but not addressed directly, I was hoping someone here could set me straight: I need to be able to support multiple languages for separate users: english, simplified chinese, traditional chinese, and korean han. Is it correct that under 2.2.x that I can only get one of those at a time, using the smb.conf options

Codepage inconsistencies
Hello. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to mount a share from a NT4.0 (US_english) machine using samba-2.2.8a. When I mount the share using samba, somehow the '?' and '?' characters are displayed as 'o' and 'a'. (other western chars such as ?,?,?,?,etc are ok, I have problems only with '?' and '?'). It's interesting to note that: -

SMBMOUNT: Problems with 866 codepage and others
Hello urban, While trying samba we've found some errors. Windows machine has 866 code page (we are from Russia), and Linux - 1251. smbclient works fine and show all the coding as it should. 1. smbmount checks argc, argv too late to set debug level at a proper time. 2. Some parameters are ignored despite --help option and man pages. They include codepage and iocharset options. 3.

smbmount codepage / iocharset problem w/ W2k
Hi: I have written to this list once before regarding the same problem. (ref smbmount problem on 03/28/2005) Paul Gienger sugested asking the "kernel boys" as they maintain smbmount. Maybe my problem wasn't deserving of a reply from them, maybe I subscribed to the wrong list. Can someone suggest a kernel list where I may get a useful reply? smbclient's ftp like interface

Codepage conversion between 2.2.8 and 3.0.14 - what's 2.2.8 default charset on disk?
I have to upgrade a 2.2.8a (Debian) installation to 3.0.14a (Debian too). I have quite everything clear but I am afraid I will get into trouble with the filename encoding on disk. The current samba installation has no explicit codepage declared for the file system, and running "testparm" gives only these settings (which are default) for codepages and charsets:

Codepage 850 question
Hi, I run samba very happily, but now I recognized problems with restoring files from a tape. If I use certain german characters, like ??? (hope you can read them), it builds file this "Verkn\201pfung". I can use this files from the sambaclient, but I can't access or delete this files out of Linux. I used client codepage = 850 Now I found out, that if I use the options

codepage & character set
Hi, I migrated files from an existing NT fileserver to a new samba server. Unfortunately I did not make my homework properly and forget to set "codepage" and "character set" in the global section. Bit this was necessary for the f#*?$? German 'Umlaute' like ? ,? ,?. Now my dilemma is the following: -Files that I moved are shown in Unix correctly with ?,? etc. -In NT
