More Capability for Capabilities
Good day,
The capabilities function gives a logical result of which features R has been compiled with. Is there a more advanced variety of the function that will give the version number of the library, or its system path, rather than simply TRUE ?

Potential issue with perl-based pattern matching with Unicode characters on Windows R 4.0 and above
Hi everyone,
I've noticed new behavior in `regexpr(..., perl = TRUE)` on Windows with
R4.0 and above with Unicode characters. Here's a minimal example where I'd
expect to see a start value of `5` (as R 3.6.2 and below gives), but R
4.0.0 (and R 4.0.1) now returns:
```
> regexpr("b", "foo\U0001F937bar", perl = TRUE)
valgrind false positive on R startup?
Hi all,
I'm on Ubuntu 18.04, running R-4.0.0 which I compiled from source, and
using valgrind I am always seeing the following message. Does anybody
else see that? Is that a known false positive? Any ideas how to
fix/suppress? Seems related to TRE, do I need to upgrade that?
Compilation error on installing rgl package
Hi all,
I encountered difficulties when I tried to install the
rgl package. I'm using R devel (2.7.0) on Mac OS X
10.5.1. Below is the message popping up when
compiling the package from source.
I'd be grateful if someone can help me solve the
problem.
Thanks,
Kenneth
RGL package installation problem on Centos
Dear R users,
I have installed the latest version of R from source on Centos (using
configure and make install).
This seemed to work fine, with no Errors reported and R at the command line
starts R.
However, if I try and installed the package rgl using;
install.packages("rgl")
I get the following error;
Patch for rgl with gcc 4.0 in R 2.3.0 on OS X
Hi,
I recently had a problem installing the rgl package on OS X and put together
a simple patch. The patched package is available here:
http://jinome.stanford.edu/files/rgl_0.66-patched_for_gcc4.tar.gz
It can be installed with "R CMD INSTALL rgl_0.66-patched_for_gcc4.tar.gz" as
normal at the command line.
Also -- as of right now rgl is not in the repository of version 2.3 packages
valgrind false positive on R startup?
It is known, with a known workaround, see e.g.
https://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/memtests/README.txt . Set
suppressions in ~/.valgrindrc, e.g. the CRAN check machine has
--suppressions=/data/blackswan/ripley/wcsrtombs.supp
It is an issue in your OS (glibc), not TRE nor R.
ld issue
I have an annoying little issue that perhaps someone can explain to me.
I installed zenoss (very cool, http://www.zenoss.org) and things are OK.
when I use emacs or when somethings like a cron job execute, I get
notice of an error...
rgl install problem on Solaris 10 X86
Hi,
Could you help me to install the rgl package on Solaris 10 x86?
I tried and got the following error messages.
When I compiled my R as 64bit, I used the SUN ProW compilers.
However, gcc seems to being used below as well as missing some information.
Thank you in advance,
Plotmath on Fedora 31 broken with with pango >= 1.44 - workarounds?
Hi
The R branch ...
https://svn.r-project.org/R/branches/R-symfam/
... is now set up so that it works "out of the box" on Fedora by setting
the default to be 'symbolfamily=cairoSymbolFont(family, usePUA=FALSE)'
when grSoftVersion()["pango"] is greater than "1.44".
This means that on Fedora 31 (at least on the Docker container I am
testing on)
Rggobi compilation error: display.c
On a ubuntu linux computer (Feisty, i386), I compile R and additional
packages from source. The compiler is gcc 4.1.2.
The problem is, I can run "sudo R" and successfully compile all
packages (e.g., MASS, lattice) except rggobi. The error seems to be
in display.c. My ggobi is in /usr/local/, which R can find. I don't
think this is a dependence issue because install.packages(...,
