POSIXlt$zone and $gmtoff questions
I've been searching for patterns in why some POSIXlt objects have the zone and gmtoff components and some don't and why gmtoff is sometimes NA when the zone is known. Is there a pattern or is it just that the additional fields and workarounds were added in an ad hoc way? E.g., as.POSIXlt adds the zone and gmtoff components for all strings and logical NA inputs if the time zone is not

So let me try to raise this issue once more, and perhaps be more clear about what I think the issue is.. In my opinion there is now a bug in make check in R-development (tested today with r79361). Yes, you are absolutely right and I'm pretty sure this will be fixed in one way or another. IMO, the failing test should simply use all.equal.POSIXt's new argument check.tzone=FALSE. Two simple alternatives modifying all.equal.POSIXt behaviour: - make check.tzone=FALSE the default: this is inconsistent with other arguments of all.equal methods, always defaulting to stricter checks -

Yes, the potential issue I see is that make check fails when I explicitly set TZ. However, I set it to be the same as what the system reports when I login. If one unlists a POSIXlt time with GMT zone gets a numeric vector, since the POSIXlt list has no `zone` element, while if one unlists a POSIXlt time with a non GMT zone (also non specifying tz if the Sys.timezone is not GMT) gets a character vector due to including the `zone` element. > x <-

Changing daylight saving time for Turkey.
Hi, Normally daylight date change last sunday march for Turkey but this year daylight saving time will change for Turkey at 28 March 2011 at 03.00 AM so how can i change daylight save time setting for this year on CentOS servers ? I wrote rule file like below and compile it with zic but when I compile rule file,it has changed date immediately but it should be change at 28 March 2011 03.00 AM.

Correction: Also dlt uses the default timezone, but POSIXlt is not recalculated whereas POSIXct is.
