MKL Acceleration encouraging; need adjust package builds?
Hi Paul, We've been through this process ourselves for the Revolution R Open project. There are a number of pitfalls to avoid, but you can take a look at how we achieved it in the build scripts at: https://github.com/RevolutionAnalytics/RRO There are also some very useful notes in the R Installation guide: https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-release/R-admin.html#BLAS Most packages do

Package Dependency
Lately, I see a dependency problem with R-3.2 systems. install.packages allows dependencies, but they are not installed so the install fails. I see this a lot with students who are able to install packages like ggplot2 but then can't load it because a dependency "stringi" is missing. Those students are generally using Windows, but today I reproduced the same on RedHat Linux with

Rmpi, openMPI editions.
Greetings. I see a warning message while compiling OpenMPI and would appreciate it if you tell me what it means. This warning happens with any OpenMPI > 1.6.5. Even before starting a cluster, just "sessionInfo" triggers this warning. I'm pasting in the message from R-3.3.2 (this is MRO). Do the R parallel package cluster functions violate the warnings described here? >

vignette checking woes
Thierry, I have this: if (require(MatrixModels) && require(Matrix)) { X <- model.Matrix(Terms, m, contrasts, sparse = TRUE) in my function rqss() I've tried variants of requireNamespace too without success. If I understand properly model.Matrix is from MatrixModels but it calls sparse.model.matrix which is part of Matrix, and it is the latter function that I'm not

vignette checking woes
I'm having trouble with R CMD check of my quantreg package. All is well until I get to: checking running R code from vignettes ... ?rq.Rnw? ... failed ERROR Errors in running code in vignettes: when running code in ?rq.Rnw? when I see a snippet from the vignette code and then: Loading required namespace: MatrixModels When sourcing ?rq.R?: Error: could not find function

can't load nlme on windoze 7
Hi, I've got a problem that sounds a lot like this, http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Re-R-R-2-12-0-hangs-while-loading-RGtk2-on-FreeBSD-td3005929.html under windoze 7. but it seems to hang with this stack trace, #0? 0x77830190 in ntdll!LdrFindResource_U () ?? from /cygdrive/c/Windows/system32/ntdll.dll building goes as follows, $ ./R CMD INSTALL --no-test-load nlme_3.1-97.tar.gz *

dovecot and PFS
Hi Is there known advices on how to favor PFS with dovecot? In Apache, I use the following directives, with cause all modern browsers to adopt 256 bit PFS ciphers, while keeping backward compatibility with older browsers and avoiding BEAST attack: SSLProtocol all -SSLv2 SSLHonorCipherOrder On SSLCipherSuite ECDHE at STRENGTH:ECDH at STRENGTH:DH at STRENGTH:HIGH:-SSLv3-SHA1:-TLSv10

rank of Matrix
Dear list, Can anyone tell me how to obtain the rank of a sparse Matrix, for example from package Matrix (class dgCMatrix)? Here is an example of QR decomposition of a sparse matrix (from the sparseQR class help). library(Matrix) data(KNex) mm <- KNex$mm str(mmQR <- qr(mm)) Similarly, using the functions/classes from the relatively new MatrixModels package: library(MatrixModels)

[LLVMdev] How to access the return value of a CallInst
Hi all: I am trying to get the return value of a call instruction that I inserted during the optimization pass I wrote. I have something like the following: CallInst *InitCall = CallInst::Create(InitFn, Args.begin(), Args.end(), "log_load_addr_ret", LI); CastInst *InsertedCast =

patch for ssl_prefer_server_ciphers in dovecot 2.1
Dear all, I tried to do a backport of 'ssl_prefer_server_ciphers' (http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.2/rev/897484f45a87/) to Dovecot 2.1 (namely the Debian version of Dovecot) and wanted to ask if there is any chance to integrate this feature into Dovecot 2.1 'upstream' as well. As the code structure changed quite a bit, I am not sure if my patch is complete. I tested it with pop3s

OpenSwan Drop Out Issue
Hello, I'm cross posting this from the OpenSwan mailing list, in case someone here can help. We have two sites connected via OpenSwan 2.6.32-9 on CentOS 5, sharing 6 /24 subnets each (so 12 in total). The problem we're having is completely randomly, be it in the middle of the day, or in the middle of the night (so I don't believe it's traffic related), certain (and sometimes

[patch] Support many columns in model.matrix
Thanks. Couldn't you implement model.matrix(..., sparse = TRUE) with a small amount of R code similar to MatrixModels::model.Matrix ? model diagnostics for MatrixModels
Dear list, I have been working with the MatrixModels package quite a bit this week, and it is proving to be extremely valuable for my current work (I am working with several factors with many levels, leading to a sparse model matrix). However, as my knowledge of statistical theory leaves much to be desired, there are certain aspects of model evaluation etc that I am having trouble with. Has

How to used MKL (not revolution-mkl) with Debian packages
Hi folks, if you want to use MKL (the fast BLAS I have tested on my Thinkpad T410) with the R 2.14.0 built as Debian/Ubuntu packages available on CRAN mirror, the following tricks may works for without some known side-effects (likes openmp breaking issues), you may try to build your own libblas.so.3gf.0 with following command: $ gfortran -L/opt/intel/lib/intel64 -liomp5
