At a guess, this is R-devel and Windows.

packages ... that is not the default on

update.package() asking even when asked to not ask
Hi,
I was trying to update packages today on one of our MacOS servers, and
got this:

Broken R
Hi, I am running Debian Sid. I am having
trouble with the R packages.
Executing 'help()' or 'demo()' launches 'most' with no text.
'help.start()' works properly.
When I try to install a package, I get the following problem:

normalizePath is sometimes very slow for nonexistent UNC paths
I'm having an issue with occasionally slow-running calls to
normalizePath. If the path is a non-existent UNC path, then
normalizePath sometimes takes 6 or 7 seconds to run, rather than its
usual few microseconds. My big problem is that I can't reliably
reproduce this across machines.
The example below generates one or two slow runs out of 10000 on my
Windows machine. I haven't been

[ rspec-Patches-9605 ] Patch for ER 9472, shared behaviour
Hi all - I''ve applied (to trunk) Bob Cotton''s patch which supports
shared behaviours (link to tracker below).
I''m still toying w/ names, so please be aware that until this is
released w/ 0.9 it should be considered experimental and there will
NOT be translation support for it. It will definitely be included in
some form - just the names (specifically

install packages from intranet
Hi,
I'm new to R. Apologies if this is a simple query, I've searched the mailing lists and docs but can't find a solution to my problem.
I'm trying to make some packages available on our intranet. During development the 'intranet' is a webserver running on localhost.

[LLVMdev] Checked arithmetic
In looking at the LLVM reference manual, it is conspicuous that (a) the
IR does not define condition codes, and (b) the IR does not define
opcodes that return condition results in addition to their computational
results.
Given the IR as it stands, how does one go about *efficiently*
implementing a language that requires checked arithmetic? I do
understand that it can be done using intrinsics, but

Does DomainCompatibilityMode still work for NT4 domain joins in Windows 10?
Greetings!
I have a brand new Windows 10 Pro box, Version 1703, Build 15063.1155, and
made the two registry mods (DNSNameResolutionRequired and
DomainCompatibilityMode) to enable it to join an old-style NT4 Samba domain
(Version 4.3). However, I note that the dialog for joining a domain within
Windows 10 now specifically says to "Join an Active Directory Domain," and
no attempt to join

communicate from Rterm
Please, help with announcing an error from Rterm:
I am calling R from an Excel VBA and noticed that if there is an error
nothing conspicuous happens. I would like just a popup window when R
cannot finish cleanly. The "ret " value returned from Shell is useless
in determining what happened.
Thank you all.

Installing packages "xslx" on Ubuntu (32bit)
Hi,
I just recently changed my OS to Ubuntu 12.04 (32bit). Now I tried to install some packages required by my old and working scripts. Unfortunately I fail when trying to install the package "xslx". Maybe it is related to the 32bit version of my R (its not possible to install a 64 bit version).
Can anyone help me to sucessfully install xslx?

Package installation errors
Dear Rxperts..
I am trying to install a few packages in R (version 2.14.2) on a *64-bit
Window 7* workstation. Some of the errors are posted below.. Both 32-bit
and 64-bit versions of R were installed. I did not get errors while
installing packages through *32-bit R*, except that it could not update
some of the packages (already installed with 64-bit R)
