Need expert help with model.matrix
Dear experts:
Is it possible to create a new function based
on stats:::model.matrix.default so that an alternative factor coding is used
when the function is called instead of the default factor coding?
Basically, I'd like to reproduce the results in 'mat' below, without having
to explicitly specify my desired factor coding (identity matrices) in the
'contrasts.arg'.

one-to-one NAT on RFC1918 addresses
In my peculiar setup I need my shorewall router to do
one-to-one NAT with RFC1918 addresses.
The "external" addresses are 10.215.0.0 and the
internal addresses are 192.168.0.0.
I can ping, vnc, http, smb from 10.215.144.48 to
10.215.145.237 which is 192.168.44.237 internally.
>From 192.168.44.237 I can do http, rdp, ping to
10.215.0.0 hosts.
So all seems fine except for the fact

Re: [strongSwan] Interop problem Linksys WRV200 with Strongswan 4.1.3 / PSK
Hi Andreas,
I don''t know if the WRV200 is running freeswan or openswan.
We use the newest US-version of the linksys firmware 1.0.32.2 from 2.5.2007.
Another problem is in accessing the vpn-Gateway itself with ssh for
instance,
I get a freezing windows, whenever I tranfer more than just a few bytes.
I can type my login-name and my password, then get a prompt ...

rsync fails to retrieve file (if local file is incorrect)
I'm using rsync on an embedded powerpc platform
with flash filesystem.
Because of a power-cycle a local file got corrupted.
This file is /flashfs/isd1, it has the correct size but
wrong MD5SUM (cd5...).
Using rsync to retrieve the right file (from a remote machine)
fails!
If I delete the file first, it works (see below).
How is this possible ?

IPSec Problem / hanging session
Hello Tom,
now here''s my dump file as .zip attachment, but named .txt, because the
list-server rejected the .zip,
then my second try (uncompressed) was rejected because of the size.
What I was doing is connecting from remote side of an ipsec tunnel
(behind gw 212.168.178.226), from
a windows machine with 192.168.246.20 to the firewall-system (remote ip

Serious stability issues
We have encountered a number of problems with our firewall recently,
and the past 24 hours have left me quite concerned. Here is what we are
seeing:
1. Original firewall, a PentiumPro/200 with 96Mb RAM, serving approx
500 client PCs for a 10Mb internet connection. Running Mandrake 9.2, we
began seeing severe swapping a few weeks, with kernel mem usage
exceeding 200Mb. Given an ip_conntrack

What won't rsync sync this file?
For some reason, Rsync did not copy two specific file. Then I tried to specifically tell it to synchronize one of them and I get this result. *I* don't see any reason why to chose not to copy this file, but maybe on of you out there would see the obvious reason I am missing.

rsync stops at system call select()
hi, all:
I need to back up about 50 files, the size of which won't exceed 5m,
every 10~15 minutes to four remote machines.
The back up command is written in a shell script file and was
executed by the scheduling program with system() function. The scheduling
program is implemented with c++.
The command as follow:
