New version of Rtools for Windows
The r.dll crash is easy - you need to be using gcc-ar for ar, and gcc-ranlib for ranlib. I also posted a patch to fix the check failure for stack probing, as lto optimizes away the stack probing code, as it should. yes, lto build's speed gain is very impressive. ------------------------------ On Thu, Jan 8, 2015 2:01 PM GMT Henric Winell wrote: >On 2015-01-08 14:18, Avraham Adler

Oh, I forgot to mention that besides setting AR, RANLIB and the stack probing fix, you also need a very up to date binutils. 2.25 was out in december. Even with that , if you linker's default is not what you are compiling for (i.e. a multiarch toolchain), you need to set GNUTARGET also, i.e. -m32/-m64 is not enough. Some fix to autodetect non-default targets went in after christmas before the

New version of Rtools for Windows
Very timely, as this is how I got into the problem I posted about earlier; maybe some of the problems I ran into will mean more to the you and the experts on this thread, Dr. Murdoch. For reference, I run Windows 7 64bit, and I am trying to build a 64 bit version of R-3.1.2. As we discussed offline, Dr. Murdoch, I've been trying to build R using more recent tools than GCC4.6.3 prerelease.

Building R on Windows: mkdir of Rtools creates directories with read-only permissions [WEIRD]
This is is an issue that bugged me for a while. I encountered a year ago (April 2012) when I first tried to build R from source on Windows. I never figured out what the solution is or if I'm doing something wrong myself (but I have found a tedious workaround). I'm still on the same Windows 7 Ultimate machine with NTFS, but I now made sure I started from scratch so I have a completely

Hello everyone, I'm trying to build R 2.14.0 from source on Win7 x64 using the instructions from "R Installation and Administration" (version 2.13.2), but when I try to make the core files (as of step 3.1.3 of the instructions), it fails with the following error: ... x86_64-w64-mingw32-gcc -std=gnu99 -m64 -I. -I../../gnuwin32 -I../../include -DGA_DLL_BUILD -DENABLE_NLS=1 ?-O3 -Wall

Hi All, I just downloaded the source tar ball (Revision: 59324 Last Changed Date: 2012-05-07) and tried to compile on a Win x64 system. I am using Rtools version 2.15.0.1919. windows rtools missing gfortran.exe?
Hi, I replaced my Rtools today as posted at http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/Rtools.exe Trying to build R-devel_2007-12-13.tar.gz without modifying MkRules gives the gfortran command not found error below. I am wondering if gfortran.exe is missing from (recent?) Rtools.exe or I am doing something wrong. Thanks to hints at Duncan's site, I worked around the error by adding

Rtools version 3.3.0.1957 looking for C even though RTOOLS variable is pointing elsewhere
Good evening. Testing the most recent version of Rtools, the build stops about when text.c is being compiled in the tools package (just after R.Lapack). The compilation is looking for gcc in C:, even though RTOOLS is set for another drive, and the compilation has successfully run until this point. This did not happen last night with version 1955. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Rtools three

Cross-compilation of R and ld bug ?
Hello list, I would like to cross-compile R packages using R 2.4.0. I am working on Linux Debian and cross-compiled (windows binaries) without problems with older R version. I have used the doc of Yan and Rossini in the contributed section of the R documentation (same version of MinGW...). When I try to cross-compile R (make R), the procedure stopped and returns :

Rtools version 3.3.0.1957 looking for C even though RTOOLS variable is pointing elsewhere
The subject line is in error, as the issue must be in "R-devel.tar.gz" as running the same Rtools on last night's download of R-devel_2015-03-09.tar.gz successfully navigates that error. The error exists in R-devel_2015-03-12.tar.gz and R-devel_2015-03-12.tar.gz and R-devel_2015-03-10.tar.gz, but not R-devel_2015-03-09.tar.gz, so it must have been something between 09 and 10. Avi
