PhD student and postdoc positions in pharmacometrics at the University of Cape Town
Dear all, We are looking for bright and motivated candidates to join our pharmacometric modelling team at the University of Cape Town. Pharmacometrics is an emerging discipline that uses mathematical and statistical tools to quantify drug, disease, and trial information to aid efficient drug development and/or regulatory decisions. It designs and applies mathematical models to describe the

PhD Student / Postdoc job position at TU Berlin
Hi, we are looking for either one post-doctoral researcher or PhD student to work with us on the CELERITY project. The main goal is the design of a programming environment to develop energy- and performance- efficient, predictably scalable, and easy-to-program parallel applications targeting large-scale heterogeneous HPC clusters. The CELERITY environment will integrate a compilation part

Bug in lm.wfit with zero weights in 0.63.3 (PR#136)
R 0.63.3 (any platform) library(lqs) example(lqs) gives Warning in (y - z$residuals) + offset : longer object length is not a multiple of shorter object length repeatedly. The problem is in lm.wfit, which removes cases with zero weights, but does not adjust the offset. The fix is z$fitted.values <- (y - z$residuals) z$weights <- w if (zero.weights) {

[Fwd: Re: Plotting log-axis with the exponential base to a plot with the default logarithm base 10]
Hello! Thank you for answering! What I am trying to do is to plot my raw values (biomass of different species) on a logaritmic y-axis with the base of e. When I type "log="y"", the axis transforms into a logaritmic axis with the base of 10. Best regards, Elisabeth > Dear Elisabeth, > > I'm not sure if I have understood your question -- are you trying > to

Computing stats on common parts of multiple dataframes
Folks, I have three dataframes storing some information about two currency pairs, as follows: R> a EUR-USD NOK-SEK 1.23 1.33 1.22 1.43 1.26 1.42 1.24 1.50 1.21 1.36 1.26 1.60 1.29 1.44 1.25 1.36 1.27 1.39 1.23 1.48 1.22 1.26 1.24 1.29 1.27 1.57 1.21 1.55 1.23 1.35 1.25 1.41 1.25 1.30 1.23 1.11 1.28 1.37 1.27 1.23 R> b EUR-USD NOK-SEK 1.23 1.22 1.21 1.36 1.28 1.61 1.23 1.34 1.21 1.22

Dell Latitude E5410 doesn't boot my USB thumbnail
Hi there, I have a 512MB USB thumbnail which I used syslinux to create a bootable USB disk. It works fine with my old laptop and a few other computers. However, on my Dell Latitude E5410, it doesn't really work; when the Dell laptop boots, I pressed F9 to see the boot devices list and the thumbnail is not on the list. Some hints please? x -- [?] Please notice that v9 at dr.com is no

Why can't I figure this out? :S
Hi, so I don't speak computer and I have no idea what this code is telling the program to do, but I apparently need to be able to find and isolate influencial observations. Problem, I have no idea what the error means and where it may be from in the code. error I get is below the code { ## OLS results NameC<- lm(gpanew~female+female:lastinit+agenew+canadian+mom_ed+yearstudy) ## default:

2.0.7: inherit permissions = yes breaks setting read-only on files
Hi, While testing the upgrade from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 I found some kind of misbehaviour of inherit permissions. It was already known that the SGID bit on directories is only useable with "inherit permissions = yes". Most of my shares depend heavily on this (unix) feature. Today I found out I cannot change a file attribute to read-only from NT while "inherit permissions" is set

Re: Re: guestfs_mount_local* api undefined symbols
the 'hivex' had been installed actually, hivex.x86_64 0:1.2.4-3.el6 and perl-hivex.x86_64 0:1.2.4-3.el6, however it just could not be detected.Maybe i should compile one rather than just yum. I`m not familiar with hivex,as far as i know, it can be used to modify windows registry, but why the inspection API had been binded with hivex when we might use inspection api solely with linux os

[sm.density.compare] scale up y-axis and additional line type
Dear fellows, The two questions are on sm.density.compare(). I compare kernel density estimates of two arrays of data. I'd like to scale up y-axis so that I can show better the differences in y values. English is not my first language so I'll try to explain it. I would like to stretch y-axis a bit longer but not to change the range of y values. How can I do this? Second, I'm

回复: guestfs_mount_local* api undefined symbols
Thank you Rich, I checked the version and found that it printed an old 1.17.17 version which was deployed before. But I remembered i did check the version in guestfish shell and it said 1.17.40 before that?then i totally ignored the fact i had another version involved. I`ve changed the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and the "undefined symbol" error disappeared. But some "inspection API not

funny axis ranges; GPretty(.) vs. pretty(.) and all that...
[This is something like a bug report; maybe somewhat longish & technical ..] As an introduction, just try the following code (it should work both in R and S). I think it screws up the postscript() driver both for S and R, but this is not the issue here. is.R <- function() { ## returns 'TRUE' iff we are using 'R' exists("version") && !is.null(vl

Random Forest para clasificación
Gracias por la pronta respuesta, pero tras leer la contestación de la gente, sigo sin entender muy bien la explicación. Le responden lo siguiente: "Each point on the partial dependence plot is the average vote percentage in favor of the "Yes trees" class across all observations, given a fixed level of TRI. It's not a probability of correct classification. It has absolutely

bar plot with non-zero starting level
Hi, I want to plot grouped bars to compare 95% confidence interval estimates from two models. Each bar represents a 95% confidence interval estimate of a coefficient from one of the two models. Each group represents confidence interval estimates of the same coefficient from the two models. I think such a bar plot will nicely present whether 95% confidence interval estimates of the same
