The Future of R | API to Public Databases
Dear R Users -
R is a wonderful software package. CRAN provides a variety of tools to
work on your data. But R is not apt to utilize all the public
databases in an efficient manner.
I observed the most tedious part with R is searching and downloading
the data from public databases and putting it into the right format. I
could not find a package on CRAN which offers exactly this fundamental

if between 500-600 give 550
I have a data frame somewhat like this:
myframe <- data.frame (ID=c(2,3,4,5), Hunger =c(415,452,550,318 ))
myframe
Now I would like to add a column to the right which summarizes the values
for Hunger somewhat to reduce the number of values: If the values for Hunger
are between
300-400 I would like to insert the number 350,
between
400-500 insert 450
between
500-600 insert 550

Postgrey Wiki page - FAO Karanbir
Hi Karanbir, everyone
I've only just noticed that the sections on Reporting, Multiple MX
Considerations and Whitelisting on the Postgrey page are specific to
postfix/postgrey.
I remember we previously talked about making that page less specific to
any particular MTA, and Steve has since kindly contributed a section for
sendmail. So I'm wondering how we could best restructure the page

average environmental data if AnimalID and Time is duplicated
Hello,
I tried for about three hours now to solve this problem but I can't figure
it out. I am sure someone knows how do it. At least I hope so.
I have a data frame somewhat like this:

Timestamp=c("24.09.2012 09:00", "24.09.2012 09:00", "24.09.2012 10:00",

Assigning values based on a separate reference (lookup) table
Dear R Users,
I have a data frame of 360 rows by 720 columns (259200 values). For each value in this grid I am hoping to apply an equation to, to generate a new grid. One of the parts of the equation (called 'p') relies on reading from a separate reference table. This is Table 4 at: http://www.fao.org/docrep/s2022e/s2022e07.htm#3.1.3%20blaney%20criddle%20method (scroll down a little).

Can Samba “security = user” be used for guest share without a Windows login prompt?
Hello, I hope this is not a dumb question, but I just need some clarification.
I am trying to set up an Ubuntu Samba share for a lab with Windows
computers (Vista and XP). I have two shares that are supposed to
require authentication and one that is supposed to a public share with
no login. I understand from reading the smb.conf manual that "security

Dear all,
I'm trying to plot, in the same window, two different series, using barplot() for the first one and plot() for the second. What happens is that the second chart has a different axes origin, therefore the final plot is wrong. This piece of code shows the differences between the values of par()$usr:
barplot(coredata(Z0), beside=TRUE, ylim=c(0,100));
par()$usr;
