c2d4u3.5 ppa for Ubuntu 20.04?
Hi I tried to use Michael's ppa after having installed Ubuntu 20.04 and R 4, and it seems the ppa is not available now for 20.04, I get message: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/marutter/c2d4u3.5/ubuntu focal Release' does not have a Release file Am I doing something wrong, or is it correct that it is not available yet? Are there any plans to implement it at some point?

Corrected msg about Linux Mint 19.1 install
Apologies for some errors inserted by overly-helpful input filters on Thunderbird. Here's the corrected version. Just in case others hit the same glitch. It's not directly an R issue, but if folk can't get an install to work, they are not going to use R. While I've always had a straightforward experience before, this install gave some troubles. I added the repository deb

Problem installing rgdal on a laptop running Ubuntu 16.04.1
I previously sent a cri de coeur about this problem to the r-help list but so far have not managed to extract a solution. So I am trying here. (Uh, Ubuntu *is* a "special instance" of Debian, isn't it?) The problem is that I cannot install rgdal, and I need it. Rather desperately. I do: install.packages("rgdal",lib="/home/rolf/Rlib") and get the error

c2d4u3.5 packages not working in R 3.5 anymore
Travis users are reporting a lot of these errors when testing packages on R 3.5: Error: package or namespace load failed for ?....? in rbind(info, getNamespaceInfo(env, "S3methods")): This problem seems to happen when a c2d4u package was compiled with R 3.6 and is loaded in R 3.5. The problem does not appear when using the same r-cran-xyz package on R 3.6. I'm not entirely sure

Rubuntu Live CD for Rails
Friends- I am almost finished with a custom live cd called Rubuntu ;-) This is an ubuntu live cd variant that comes preloaded with ruby and rails developers in mind. I already have it working with all the basics but I was wondering what extras people would like to see on this distro. What editors with what configurations? What other tools do people really like for rails development on a

Cran2deb4ubuntu: An Update for 2014
I have been a little quiet on the update front for the past few months, so I thought I would give a quick update as 2014 begins. Between increased responsibilities at work (pseudo-department chair) and some family health issues, work on [cran2deb4ubuntu](https://launchpad.net/~marutter/+archive/c2d4u) (c2d4u) slowed a bit in the last half of 2013. Here is the current state of

Hard lock with 4.14.0-2
I am running Debian testing and updated my system this morning which included a new kernel: 4.14.0.2-amd64 After this update, my system froze twice -- both times the exact same behavior. In both situations, the system froze while I was resizing a window. The mouse cursor froze, clock stopped, num lock stopped working. I didn't check if the system responded to pings from a remote machine,

Can't connect to Asterisk cli
Hello, I have started using Asterisk recently on my Ubuntu server. I installed it first using apt-get and it worked fine sort of, but still couldn't hear voice during the call! I read that this problem solved by reinstalling it, so I decided to reinstall the latest version from the source as apt-get can give you only Asterisk 1.8So I have installed Asterisk 11 following the procedure in
