ANNOUNCE: Gnomoradio 0.10
Gnomoradio is a peer-to-peer music playing system that can read and understand Creative Commons licenses. In addition to playing local files, it has the ability to recommend, download, and play free music (mp3s and oggs) in a user-friendly way. Gnomoradio 0.10 contains many bugfixes and enhancements. Most notable of these is the migration to Glib::ustring (which allows the use of UTF-8 encoded

Broken UTF-8 in yp.xml?
Hi all, I apologize if this subject has been discussed before. I recently wrote a small add-on for XBMC Media Centre (www.xbmc.org) which allows the users to listen to Icecast radio stations. My primary source of information is the yp.xml file. While the yp.xml file is UTF-8 there seem to be some entries with broken UTF-8 (which most often looks like multiple-encoded UTF-8, but with one

[fdo] Shared Mime Info
Hello First I don't know if this is the correct list, so please point me further if it isn't. I noticed that the shared-mime-info contained this entry for the Ada95 programming language: <mime-type type="text/x-adasrc"> <comment>Ada source code</comment> <comment xml:lang="de">Ada-Quelltext</comment> <comment

Vorbis license in non-English languages?
Hi; I emailed monty@xiph.org about this before I noticed the mailing list existed; I suppose it can't ask to hurt here too. We're about to release a product which has support for multiple languages; as a result, the license text and documentation has been translated into each of these languages. As the product includes Ogg Vorbis playback using libvorbis, we've obviously got to

Service Availability
I''m still tinkering, moving over code from CFE to Puppet in a test environment. One item I did with CfE was manage services. If something wasn''t running, it was restarted. Puppet''s service integration makes this easy. The flip side, is how do you guarantee Puppet''s running? I pulled some tricks with CfE to ensure it was always running. I made CfE a direct

NFS/ZFS performance problems - txg_wait_open() deadlocks?
Hi. System is snv_56 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440, zil_disable=1 We see many operation on nfs clients to that server really slow (like 90 seconds for unlink()). It''s not a problem with network, there''s also plenty oc CPU available. Storage isn''t saturated either. First strange thing - normally on that server nfsd has about 1500-2500 number of threads. I did
