Segmentation fault issue with new install
Hi all, I am a long-time user of Icecast, always without problems. However i made a new setup using icecast 2.4.1 on a fresh and quick CentOS VPS. The issue is that starting icecast gives a segmentation fault at around 80% of all starts. No core file nor a entry in error.log is posted. In the remaining 20% of the starts icecast start with no problem. Contents of the error.log with a succesfull

theora streaming problem...
hi everyone! i'm playing around with theora streaming for the linux audio conference 2005 (http://lac.zkm.de). i checked out svn.xiph.org/trunk, built all ogg, vorbis, speex and theora related libs from scratch, then pulled icecast-2.2.0. three issues: [1] icecast runs fine as always, but when i do cat myvideo.ogg | oggfwd myhost 8000 mypasswd /test.ogg, the stream dies after a few

understanding error.log
Hello. A couple questions. When I execute curl http://myserver.xxx.xxx:8000/test.mp3 , I get "<b>The source you requested could not be found.</b>" I've placed my error.log and icecast.xml files below. Could someone help me understand my error.log a little better - to maybe see why I'm not getting a stream when I make the above curl call. Also, you'll see in

Live streaming from Mac OS X
I am trying to stream live audio from a Mac OS X ibook to a linux machine running mplayer2 using instructions http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php? story=20020704134818926&query=live+itunes+streaming I managed to compile everything (Icecast 2.2.0, libshout2, etc). To compile icecast, i had to use "fakepoll.h" header file from sealiesoftware.com/fakepoll.h to get around with

icecast error with metadata
Hello, I've been running three mp3 streams off icecast2 and ices0 on a FreeBSD 5.4 box for a while. I've been getting some flakiness for a few weeks, where the stream would stop and i'd have to restart the server. After the last update to icecast2 now whenever i try to connect to the streams using say winamp latest for windows i keep getting error 404's. My software versions

Fallback trouble with icecast 2.1kh
Hello, I found a fallback trouble on icecast 2.1kh4 (but it's the same with 2.0 I think) : - ices streams live.ogg to icecast - icecast has a fallback live-default.ogg for live.ogg - a listener A listen at live.ogg - I shut down the source - the listener A is trying to read data from its connection, but receives nothing. Sometimes, it gets fallback data, sometimes nothing... (source

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
A small update from my side.. i have updated both icecast and libshout to the nightly snapshot versions of icecast.org. Also, in the configfile i have raised the threadpool to 500 and all timeouts to 3000. This did help a bit. Right now i can get it up to 1020 inputstreams, however then it just stops accepting new connections. Is there a theoretical maximum to the number of mountpoints icecast

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
We are using icecast as stream-relay for a true narrowcast solution we've developed. The idea behind the system is that each individual client gets it's own mountpoint. Basically we have an application that creates streams. Its written in c++ and uses libshout to handle connecting to icecast. Everything works fine, as long as we keep the number of mountpoints below 347. As soon as we

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
you can't use the IPs directly, both dir.xiph.org and www.oddsock.org are running as vhosts, and thus using the IP will not get you to the correct site... o you have to use hostnames in the URLs... it sounds like if you don't chroot it works and if you do it doesn't ? I've never really run icecast using chroot, so I'm not entirely sure of all the stuff you need to do to

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
DNS for vhosts makes total sense, duh! :) Running without chroot, as root, changing to nobody, and YP works just fine.. If I come up with a nice howto / rundown of the chroot stuff, I'll get it on the list. Odd: Did you see the posts about the Icecast+win32 crashing w/ OddCast 2.0.10 and 2.0.13? Seems stable on 2.0.1-release and SVN on Linux but.. I'm going to do my research and get
