/* Check for midi header in logical stream */
Hello List, as an long time macintosh user , musican/producer/programmer , i am very upset that another great technology (DSS ) vanished because of http streaming so i turned my interest towards icecast, whitch seems an fantastic and evolved media streaming server. I am very interested in Midi, especialy the possibility to *sync Audio with Midi*. So my question , would it be possible to stream a

Opus now supported at Magnatune
> If you pass --genre multiple times, it will actually encode multiple GENRE tags in the file. Not sure how many players will properly handle such a thing, though (my prediction: not many, though I think VLC will concatenate them into a comma-separated list). My mistake, I didn't read the man page carefully enough, which does state this: > Set the genre comment field to genre. This

PATCH: XMMS year bug
Hi, this is a patch to fix a bug in the XMMS plugin. The problem is that with the current version (1.1.0) it is impossible to get the year field to show up in the playlist, even if it's properly set in the file. The diff below fixes the problem. Tyler Eaves bash-2.05b$ diff -C 1 wrap_id3.c /usr/portage/distfiles/flac-1.1.0/src/plugin_xmms/wrap_id3.c *** wrap_id3.c Fri Jul 16 18:28:35 2004

[Icecast-dev] metadata fallback mounts
Hi all, I posted this message before on icecast-dev, but I guess it's more appropiate here. First of all thanks again for icecast2. It keeps surprising me how easy and stable it is to use! I'm working with icecast2 from SVN now (revision 10692) and it's mount point features. I've created the top mount point '/play.ogg' so we have only one main mount point for users

vorbis tag for general music type?
Hi, I am wondering if vorbis has a standard tag for general music type. I don't mean pop, jazz, etc., but something more in line with describing the mood of the mucic. I am thinking of games which have a soundtrack in vorbis format which could use the user's own repository of .ogg files during gameplay, and use the tag to choose appropriate music for that part of the game. a new directory service
So I've been doing some research and thinking here and there about what a _good_ directory service for icecast would be like. I'd appreciate some feedback and some discussion on this topic, before I start putting a lot of effort into developing it. First off, I think getting rid of # of listeners is a must. It just creates a self-fulfilling prophecy and encourages cheating. I think the

ice2 CVS build problems under Solaris 7
Hi: If you want to use icecast 2 for streaming vorbis audio then don't get it from the CVS repository at icecast.org. That's ancient developer stuff in there. Instead get it from the xiph.org CVS repository (see http://www.xiph.org/cvs.html which I see now lists the icecast stuff (yay!). You'll need the icecast module plus the avl, httpp, log, net, thread and timing modules (check

ices 0.2.2 does not reencode mp3s
I recently upgraded ices from 0.1.0 to 0.2.2. I have found that it is not reencoding my mp3 stream, even though I have it configured to. This is on a RedHat linux 7.0 system, kernel 2.4.11 ices build commands: ./configure --with-perl --with-lame \ --with-lame-includes=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/include \ --with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/libmp3lame/.libs gmake

need API doc to develop a radio client
Hi, Can you please share a sample code which fetches the station list from the > Icecast server and can play a station. > I am attaching a very basic, bare-bone example in Python which: - fetches the XML file - converts it into a DOM object - loops over it, extracting for each station it's server name, URL, bitrate and genre. To play a URL, just feed it to the underlying player.
