Help needed: strange issue with share mapping at logon
Hello all,
I've run into an issue while migrating a client's Samba PDC from Debian
3.x to OpenSuSE 10.3, have been beating my head against it for over a
week, and am now turning to the mailing list for help.
We're running Samba 3.0.26a-3-1478-SUSE-SL10.3 authenticating against
OpenLDAP 2.3.37. Integration of Samba and OpenLDAP works, and importing
the 2000+ existing user accounts

Authentication to a trusted domain
Could someone tell me if what I'm trying to do is possible with
Samba? This authentication across trusted domains problem is
driving me nuts. Please & thanks.
My Samba server, cachalot: RedHat 7.2, Samba 2.2.3a, Winbind is
running.
Cachalot belongs to the NT domain PHS-SC, which trusts the NT domain
FHCRC.
Cachalot is added to the PHS-SC domain as a "workstation or server"

Giving up on authentication to trusted domain
I've pretty much decided that this doesn't work, but I'd like to
take this last opportunity to find out if ANYONE has a working
configuration like mine:
Samba server: v2.2.3a running on a RedHat Linux 7.2 system, plus
Winbind. The Samba server is in the PHS-SC domain, and can be
browsed from "My Network Places".
User "cbenson" has an NT account in the FHCRC domain

Coding in python using shout-python bindings
Just a thought:
I don't know the python API, but it reminds me of a common
"bug"/strange behaviour in other languages (eg PHP): often this
happens because one call to "f.read(4096)" is not enough to get the
full message. And if I recall exactly, it's no use to increase from
4096 to 8192 or more : it's because the f.read method is async, i.e.
one call may not

Function objects as arguments of a function
Hello, R users.
In C (or C++) language, a function can be used as
an argument of another function as follows:
// function used as an argument
void foo(int x)
{
...
}
// function using a function as an argument
void bar(void (*func)(int ), int arg1, int arg2)
{
....
}
// The function 'bar' will be called as follows
int main()
{
....
bar(foo, arg4foo, other_arg);

Coding in python using shout-python bindings
Hello,
I'm creating a module written in python that brings an easy to implement
interface for the libshout lib, mainly to provide streaming capabilities
to a gnome player called Exaile (http://www.exaile.org). The module is
almost done (already available at
http://devpower.blogsite.org:8080/archivos/icastplugin.py) but I'm
encountering some problems (I believe sync problems):

icast.com has been shutdown
...as it has been announced before.
Also, I can't access www.vorbis.com, it seems that this site came down
together with icast.com. So the only official vorbis web site now is only
at hiph.org. Just to let everyone know...
Greetings,
Aleksandar

mosaic 0.4 on CRAN
One of the products of Project MOSAIC (funded by an NSF CCLI grant)
has been the development of an R package with the goal of making it
easier to use R, especially in teaching situations. We're not quite
ready to declare that we've reached version 1.0, but version 0.4 does
represent a fairly large step in that direction. You can find out
more about the package on CRAN or by installing

Hello
Too bad caster.fm only supports MP3 format for their free service:
"Caster.fm free service allow streaming in MP3, other codec
(aac,aac+,ogg) will result in a ban from Caster.fm."
https://clients.caster.fm/knowledgebase/6/Allowed-Media-FormatorCodec.html
Cheers,

Icecast usability
Hi
We are looking for a product that applies to this specs.
1) We need to allow different users / departments access to upload Audio
and Video files for streaming
2) We need to comply with MPEG4 and MP3. And that playing does not require
a specific player (we can accept Windows Media Player, QuickTime, iTunes,
Winamp)
3) We want users to be able to organise their material - and that m3u

manipulating axis labels in grid and lattice
I am trying to use wireframe at the moment and the axis labels are
overlapping with the tick labels. It seems that gpar does not yet
utilize the mgp argument. Is there anyway to manipulate the position of
the axis labels?
The best I can manage so far is to manipulate the cex so as to shrink
everything down.
thanks, Carlo Maley

openssh 2.9p1: data loss when stdout sent to a pipe
We recently tried upgrading openssh from 2.5.2p2 to 2.9p1
and discovered that it no longer worked to feed the output from a remote
command into a pipe, unless the output was short and the pipe was very
fast at processing its input.
Example 1: ssh remote_machine some_command | less
(where "some_command" generates a lot of output) now fails after
the first screenful, with a
