Question about buffering with icecast protocol
OK, Thanks a lot Karl and Elf. It's clear to me now. Shoutcast gives you (by
default) a much larger burst and that's the difference I was seeing.
By the way: do you know sources for lists of stations? I see a "stream
directory" at icecast.org, but I don't know if it's available to download (I
think using a program to dig the info from the web is not ethical, as least

Where can I get a downloadable stream directory?
Hi,
I want to connect as a client. Please let me know about the listings you
mention. I?ve just asked this on another thread in the dev list:
I see a "stream directory" at icecast.org, but I don't know if it's
available to download (I think using a program to dig the info from the web
is not ethical, as least without permission). Shoutcast has a nice directory

Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect
Can anyone explain what the fundamental difference between the
Burst-on-Connect mode that Icecast2 uses versus SHOUTcast?
There is a thread starting on the VLC Player list that is stating that the
problems that VLC has playing Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect (default) streams
is the fault of Icecast2. I don't believe this is true, as Winamp has no
problem with Icecast2 streams. I'm hoping

can't use icecast2 in ubuntu 12.04
Hello,
first of all thank you for your patience and having answered you.
I tried to change port from 8000 to 8001 but nothing happened. I am using a vps server so I don?t need to open port from router.
I paste here all my icecast.xml configuration file.
can you please give a llok and tell me if all seems ok to you?
still thank you!

Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect - More
I am trying to determine exactly what the difference in Burst-on-Connect is
between SHOUTcast and Icecast2. There are a number of players that are
having difficulty with the Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect feature.
To determine where the problem might be, I tried to lower the burst-size to
32768, but doing so will not allow sources to connect to the Icecast2 server.
Anyone know what accepted

I will give a little background...
For more than 10 years until now im using Shoutcast 1.9.5/1.9.8 win32 on my
machines. "What's working, d'ont touch".
Now im changing to ice 2.4.2.
The flexibility of the ice is great.
but, because of the things that "hidden" from the eye im little bit afraid
to make changes that will be dramatic for the listeners.
So, for the

can't use icecast2 in ubuntu 12.04
Hello,
I really don?t know if this question is already been discussed, what I say is that is about 5 days that I can?t find any solution.
the problem is that icecast2 works only locally, I am not able to connect remotely. Now I?m going to explain:
on ubuntu 12.04, I installed icecast2 with:
apt-get install icecast2
it is not the latest version, since I see here there is the 2.4.
anyway, I

I am using Winamp, Icecast2 Server, and Edcast. I believe I have set these
up properly so that I can set up and broadcast an internet radio station.
These are the links I used to help me:

Problem with fallback on 2.31 on Windows XP
If this isn't supported, then I apologize for the disruption, I'll
just tell my customer / client / friend it's time to seriously rethink
what they're trying to do. If support is possible, here's the problem:
I took a running icecast.xml file from a configuration that works. It
has live, backup, and listener (called /broadband) mount points. A

Relays Ending With "Disconnecting source due to socket timeout"
Greetings:
I use Icecast 2.4.0 on Windows 8.1. I have a config file which sets up
roughly a dozen relays to connect on demand.
My typical use is to connect to 1-4 of the streams simultaneously. All
connections are either via WinAmp to 127.0.0.1 or via other clients on
my LAN. My intent is to leave the connections active for up to 72 hours.
When I connect through my relays, eventually the
