Coding in python using shout-python bindings
Just a thought: I don't know the python API, but it reminds me of a common "bug"/strange behaviour in other languages (eg PHP): often this happens because one call to "f.read(4096)" is not enough to get the full message. And if I recall exactly, it's no use to increase from 4096 to 8192 or more : it's because the f.read method is async, i.e. one call may not

failed exaile install
I'm trying to install the exaile package on my newly upgraded CentOS 6.4 machine. It fails (see below) with missing dependencies on python-cddb and gnome-python2-gtkmozembed. I found this thread but there does not seem to be any resolution. \ Has anyone got this installed? Am I missing a repo? Thanks, Steve # yum install exaile Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security

icast.com has been shutdown
...as it has been announced before. Also, I can't access www.vorbis.com, it seems that this site came down together with icast.com. So the only official vorbis web site now is only at hiph.org. Just to let everyone know... Greetings, Aleksandar --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a

Recomendations
Dear Icecast community, For several weeks I am running two IceCast2 streams. I am very pleased with the stability and performance of the Icecast application. Thumbs-up for the developers of this great piece of software!! The sources (live audio) are generated with two separated liveice-sn04 and streams to the remote Icecast servers. So far so good! Frequently one of the sources stops to stream

A large streaming project
> As a guess, how many IceCast streams could be supported on one Linux PC > (say 1.5Ghz PC). Icast at one point had about 456 stations or so. We were able to do this (all the music was preencoded) with 8 machines quite reliably. Basically 4 machines sourced streams, and 4 machines served them. Only three machines were really needed, so failures were taken care of if only one machine

Icecast usability
Hi We are looking for a product that applies to this specs. 1) We need to allow different users / departments access to upload Audio and Video files for streaming 2) We need to comply with MPEG4 and MP3. And that playing does not require a specific player (we can accept Windows Media Player, QuickTime, iTunes, Winamp) 3) We want users to be able to organise their material - and that m3u

Fixed-point Vorbis decoder
Hi, I'm the author of a fixed-point MPEG audio decoder called MAD: http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/ I've been considering the possibility of writing a similar fixed-point decoding library for Ogg Vorbis. Unfortunately, every time I've looked for Vorbis decoding specifications, I have found them incomplete. :-( I'd rather not try to reverse-engineer specifications

Vorbis for Macintosh
Hi. For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm a Macintosh developer. Right now, I'm at the MacHack conference (which runs from Wednesday to Sunday). Before I left, I grabbed the Vorbis sources out of CVS. Yesterday I got the library and a couple of examples building in CodeWarrior and verified that they worked. I'm going to try to get a QuickTime CODEC built, but I'm not

I've been working towards a mp3info like tool, OggInfo, which will surplant vorbiscomment in functionality, and also incorportate mp3info like featuers. Looking at existing vorbis api calls, i find: vorbis_comment_add() /* unsupervised string insertion */ vorbis_comment_add_tag() /* formated TAG=text insertion */ vorbis_comment_query() /* scans for matching tag (up to count duplicates) and

Number of listeners per server box ?
I have a proposal from RackSpace to put icecast on the following hardware at their server farm. Can someone give me a "guesstimate" of how many listeners each box can support? Proposed hardware by RackSpace for each server box: Dual 866 MHz processor 2 GB ECC RAM 100 Mbps connection I need to know how many listeners can connect to each of these boxes. I don't know how to

seeking information
Hi` I just subscribed to the list and already have a couple of questions ;) I read the FAQ and skimmed through the archives but I'd rather get up- to date information and not rely on what I read in old posts. Are there any games/ mods using Ogg Vorbis? Are there any other tools despite standalone music players using Ogg Vorbis? How fast is decompression? How big is the memory overhead for

A large streaming project
Hi I've just become involved in a company that is starting a new large project which involves streaming thousands of Internet radio stations, possibly up to 8000. They were heading towards the Windows Media format but I mentioned Ogg Vorbis streaming and they are interested. This will be a major boost to Ogg Vorbis in the market place if they decide to do it. I'm not exactly sure
