buffering loop without without extension
hi,
I'm trying an ogg stream which doesn't seem to work at least on my xmms
if I don't use the .ogg extension for it.
xmms runs into an eternal buffering loop, restarting just upon finishing

Bug#383793: libtheora0: not 64-bit clean
Package: libtheora0
Version: 0.0.0.alpha7-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch
The theora_unpack_comment casts a pointer-to-int to a pointer-to-long,
which breaks badly if ints and longs are different sizes. The attached
patch fixes this.

libtheora-1.0alpha7 release
All,
I've done a new alpha release of the libtheora reference implementation.
This is mostly build fixes from the alpha6 release; I'd failed to enable
the new MMX asm by default, and the x86 asm code did a relocation that
caused problems on SELinux.
You can get it in the usual place:

PAM authentication failure?
Howdy:
Can anybody explain why /var/log/messages is filled with the
following?
Aug 18 09:37:53 rama PAM_pwdb[28483]: 1 authentication failure;
(uid=0) -> arnold for samba service
Aug 18 09:38:25 rama PAM_pwdb[28494]: (login) session opened for
user arnold by arnold(uid=0)
The first one happens every time I browse to rama from win95
Explorer; the second one is from a telnet login

Winamp
Hi Folks,
I'm looking for a Winamp plugin to play Speex files. On the Speex Plugins and software page the "Winamp and Cool Edit Plugins = Written by Case" link is dead. Anybody knows where else I can find such a plugin? Please can you test any links before referring - I've been also lead to dead links by looking through messageboards that I came across on Google search.

Fw: Winamp
Hi Shane and all on the list,
Thanks - I already have the Ogg Vorbis encoder (oggenc.exe).
I am looking to send voice messages to a friend in India and they have terrible connections. I just need to communicate with him quickly and easily from time to time which is why I'm hoping to compress voice with Speex. There's an encoder called Speexenc.exe which I already have, now I only need

IPSEc versus Multipath routing
Firstly I don''t think this is a shorewall problem, but I suspect shorewall
might be able to solve it for me.
I''ve posted this so far at
http://mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=18942
I''ve stumble upon a problem that has me stumped
I have a multipath router using 2.6.8.1 with patches from here

libtheora-1.0alpha5 release
Everyone,
I've made a new release of our libtheora reference implementation. This
draws a line under all the development since alpha 4 before we start
merging in the optimization work people have been doing. It also
contains a fix for two serious bugs (one an encoding error, one a
segfault) so we recommend everyone upgrade. The release is source and
binary compatible with 1.0 alpha 4.

Sampling encoder timings between libtheora-1.0 & libtheora-1.1beta3
As requested by Ralph in my introduction e-mail to this list [1], I've
gone ahead and done some sample test timings for encoding between
libtheora-1.0 and libtheora-1.1beta3, as available from the Theora
website [2].
So far, I've tested with 4 different files that I generated with content
I already have. The files, in brief, are the following:

libtheora-mmx-1.0alpha5 release
Along with libtheora-1.0alpha5 this is a release of theora-mmx.
A drop in replacement that uses MMX assembly to speedup some of
the most demanding routines in theora encoding/decoding.
Right now it only works on 32bit x86 CPUs.
Thanks to everyone whose work made this release possible!

libtheora 1.1alpha2 (thusnelda) release
I'm pleased to announce the second alpha release of our next
generation encoder for the free Theora video format, codename
"thusnelda". The second release incorporates a number of changes which
improve both compression efficiency and execution speed.
This release includes working MSVC project files, but the assembly
optimization hasn't yet been ported, so performance there will
