Streaming AAC with libshout?
Hi Greg, thank you for recommendation but my question is related to a different topic. I would rather say that Orban should finally notice that selling standalone windows app is not a solution for everyone as it does not integrate well with SaaS solutions. m. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... ices-0.4 Reencode problems
Since the mailing list archives are a bit difficult to go through at the moment, I'll go ahead and simply ask. If I fire up ices-0.4 with reencode enabled, at pretty much the end of every song I get an error: bitstream problem: resyncing... Occasionally it will also throw in a: mpg123: Can't rewind stream by NNN bits! And eventually after a dozen songs or so I'll get a rash

Lame, Bitrates, ReEncoding I
I'd like to use the Bitrate and Reencode features of ices and understand I must recompile with lamelib. However, it's Very Unclear where to begin here. This is noted in the ices-0.2.3 INSTALL file: I installed lame as a debian package so lame.h is in /usr/include/lame/lame.h and libmp3lame.a is in /usr/lib. configure finds everything automatically. <p>I assume we

More libshout questions
Okay, I am using libshout to stream to a NullSoft Shoutcast server. I am using libmad and libmp3lame to do re-encoding on the fly. I am streaming to the server (currently) with shout_send_raw(). When I try to use shout_metadata_add(), I get a segfault in strdup(). Anyone have any ideas as to why? Everything else works fine, just not the metadata. Thanks In Advance, Deven --- >8 ----

Multiple mount points without dynamic reencoding
Hello: I am running the icecast2.3.2 server and ices0.4 with a perl script which provides the filename of the next track to play. I am reencoding in advance using ffmpeg, which has been very reliable. My main stream is mp3, 64kbps / 44.1 kHz (mono) and I have pre-reencoded the tracks to 32kbps / 22.05 kHz (mono), for a lower data rate stream. At this time, I have not figured out how to get a

IceS compiling problems
I have serious problems to compile IceS on a debian (woody), kernel 2.4.18. I have to say the configure script does not find anything... - I installed libshout and libshout-dev downloaded drom the icecast site. I have shout.h : 0:33 root@radiopi2 /usr/include/shout# ls shout.h Yet configure gives me this : ~/sources/ices-0.2.2% ./configure --with-libshout=/usr/include checking for

Bug in ices, playlist mode (ices kh47, libshout kh22)
Hello, I will take your last version, but I have fresher news about the bug that occurs every mornings in fact... I think this is ntpdate which is causing the problem, as the time of the machine change for more than one second. Here is all the info: 09:46:17 up 1 day, 1:22, 2 users, load average: 0.60, 0.71, 0.68 86 processes: 84 sleeping, 2 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped CPU states: 10.4%

Ices2 - reencoding ogg?
Ok so I'm up and riding with Icecast2 and ices2, thanks for all of you who pointed me in the right directon. I can stream fine without reencoding but when I change the nominal-bitrate tag its not happy. Comments in the xml file say: <!-- Live encoding/reencoding: Currrently, the parameters given here for encoding MUST match the input data for channels and sample rate. That restriction

How to install libquicktime on CentOS 7 in one (or two) line of command?
Hi, For some reason, I need support of QuickTime on my CentOS 7. So I searched the internet and found that something called "|libquicktime|" can provide that support. So I download the rpm file from http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libquicktime%28x86-64%29. Then I ran command "|rpm -i libquicktime-1.2.4-31.el7.x86_64.rpm|" and got the following errors:

reencoding experience
hello anyone of you who has used the reencoding option of ices to bring the stream at a constant bitrate would be kind to share the experience (the impact on resources and, quoting the README file - "...mpglib part of lame (what does the decoding) is rather unstable and will call exit(0) when errors are encountered." - and stability of the stream). thanks, petre -- Petre Bandac -

ices 0.2.2 does not reencode mp3s
I recently upgraded ices from 0.1.0 to 0.2.2. I have found that it is not reencoding my mp3 stream, even though I have it configured to. This is on a RedHat linux 7.0 system, kernel 2.4.11 ices build commands: ./configure --with-perl --with-lame \ --with-lame-includes=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/include \ --with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/libmp3lame/.libs gmake

reencoding mp3 as vorbis live
What I want to do is put up an icecast 2 server streaming vorbis, but the original live stream is mp3. It seems that I want to do something like this (with all the options left out for clarity): mpg123 | lame | something where the "something" is some command that sends the bits to icecast like ices. Does such a thing exist for ogg/vorbis? Is there a better way to do this?

VBR reencoding @128k problem
I did some further investigating into this issue and here's what I found: It appears somewhere between ices0.1.0 and ices 0.2.0 is where the "bug" (for lack of a better term) was introduced that i'm noticing. When I compile ices0.2.0 w/lame 3.89beta, the VBR is *NOT* reencoded, but instead streamed out at full VBR bitrate(s). However, when using ices0.1.0 w/lame 3.89beta, it

Crossfader for ices 0.3
FYI, I've added a crossfader to the ices0 trunk in subversion: http://svn.xiph.org/icecast/trunk/ices0 It requires LAME support (of course). To use it, either pass -C <secs> on the command line, or add a <Crossfade>secs</Crossfade> node to the Playlist section of the config file. Reencoding must also be enabled on your stream. NOTE: the crossfader can't resample, so all
