a dedicated audio encoder
Hi, In our design of Icecast2, our multiple sources will stream their high quality audio via a dedicated audio encoder (not a computer): Live audio > L+R microphone > pre amplifier > audio encoder > Icecast2 VPS So far I have a shortlist of 4 possible brands of audio encoders: Sonifex PS-SEND, Barix Instreamer, Bric-Link, Outcaster OC100. All have their pro's and cons.

Questions on Raising Functional levels
Does raising the domain level need to be done on all DC's running in the Forest or just one? How about the forest level? The wiki makes me believe only one is needed. Will rasing the functional levels prevent any samba4 version from joining the domain? I would like to raise my current 2003 level to 2008 to take advantage of the following features. * Advanced Encryption Standard (AES 128

xmms-flac security update breaks XMMS' flac-playing ability
Hello, First post to this group. I've been searching for about a week now to find anyone who can solve this problem or point me to the solution. I've been a happy xmms-flac user for 4 years until this week when some new FLAC security updates came along and completely stopped XMMS from playing FLACs on my PC. This is most irritating as I have over 3,500 CDs ripped and FLAC'd in

Encoding on a "dumb" pc
I'm in the process of trying to build a project, and I'm hoping that someone on the list can help me out. I have an Icecast server already running, and some feeds coming in from Simplecast, Edcast, and DarkIce. These encoders are obviously on computers owned by users who can setup feeds are send them to my Icecast server remotely. What I am looking for, is a small PC that is capable

Frauenhofer signing off on mp3, ogg stream player for Macs?
Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits has stopped providing licenses for MP3 technology, "[...] noting that more superior audio formats have rendered the MP3 obsolete. Speaking to National Public Radio (USA), the Fraunhofer Institute said AAC has since become the 'de facto standard for music download and videos on mobile phones.' "

some features of icecast2 beta
Michael Smith wrote: > I would think the logical (and simpler) way to do this would be on the > client side. But as I said, patches welcome. darkice support stream dump on the encoder side, but this is far from logical: in a typical setup, the encoder is a machine not visible from the outside, while the server (per definition) is visible. when generating the stream dump on the encoder,

It's really pretty simple. You can download the code and build it all you want... ...for yourself. It cannot be distributed, sold, or used commercially in any way. That's all. /g. -----Original Message----- From: Icecast [mailto:icecast-bounces at xiph.org] On Behalf Of Robert Jeffares Sent: Tuesday, 16 May, 2017 17:03 To: icecast at xiph.org Subject: Re: [Icecast] Frauenhofer signing

source clients
Hello again, does anybody know icecast sorce client which encodes live audio in mp3 and uses ALSA drivers. I've tried darkice, but it uses too many resources for several encoding processes. Maybe the reason is because I'm using virtual ALSA devices created for each program I want to encode. But I know only two ways different channels from the same soundcard to be used simmultaneously by

Playing a file before live stream
Hi, My sincere apologies if this topic has appeared on the mailing list before, (as I'm sure it probably has) but the xiph.org archive function is still broken so I can't search. At any rate, I'd like to know if it is possible, using Icecast2, to play a short .mp3 or .ogg file before a live stream is delivered. I'm not sure how to do this, or if it is even possible. Any help is

Yes. Though I don't know if using an arbitrary one works from the admin directory. Certainly you can put them in icecast's webroot directory (or some

URGENT: security exploit fix
To all users: The recently exploits announced at bugtraq can be fixed by the following patch. This patch should fix a few other potential holes as well, and I will post a followup patch soon that is even more thorough. Note: this exploit would give the attacker priviledges of the user running icecast. If you are running icecast as a normal user account or as root, this would be a good time to

Liveice+Darkice?
Hello, Could the experienced people help me? 1:) Is it possible to start liveice in the background like icecast and shout?? 2:) If I insert another sound card to PC(it will have 2 or more sound cards). Is it enough to specify "SOUND_DEVICE" option to /dev/dspX in liveice.cfg and start another liveice session with that configuration file??? 3:) With many efforts I fail to start darkice
