Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
Ok, I read the Read Me.
So icyx://boa.mediacast1.com:9292/stream.aac works.
I don't understand why the http syntax cannot be made to work. This
works fine for Ogg Vorbis streams using the Illumination DirectShow
filter.
Ross.

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
A FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for Microsoft Windows Media Player that
fully supports the Icecast2 Server is available for download here:
http://www.orban.com/plugin
FYI:
This plugin supports .asx for Windows Media Player NOT .pls or .m3u.
Also streams can be opened directly by using newly created UIL
redirectors, e.g., icyx:// instead of http:// and rtpx:// instead of
rtsp://. This is all covered

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
Great news, but I can't get it to work.
Installed the plugin and typed a URL directly into File > Open URL, but
it sit's there connecting permanently. I'm using Windows XP SP2, WMP
10.
I tried a stream of a customer of mine using an icecast2 server.
http://boa.mediacast1.com:9292/stream.aac
This works in Winamp.

dir.xiph.org only listing Ogg streams
Anyone wanting their AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus stream(s) listed on Tuner2,
please send request(s) with relevant information to me directly.
This is free and does not require an Orban Opticodec-PC Encoder.
This will also help lighten the load for Xiph.

AAC support?
We have several users using aacPlus/HE-AAC from an Orban Opticodec-PC
Streaming Encoder.
This is not sad.
Science marches on...
Icecast2 is a very good HTTP/ICY server.

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Something else, Greg. Are you aware of any 3G / 2.5G (EDGE) clients for
mobile phones that support AAC+ streaming? Be it java or symbian based.
Thanks
Alex

IntroFile Feature Request for Icecast2 Server
Would it be possible to add IntroFile support (like SHOUTcast) to Icecast2,
to play an intro file upon connection to a live stream without having to
re-buffer between file and subsequent live stream?
If this is already supported, please excuse the request, and explain the
configuration.
Thanks.

AAC support?
By adding support for AAC/HE-AAC to Icecast2, the project is certainly
about freedom.
It gives users the freedom to choose whatever codec they want.
HE-AAC/aacPlus, because of its efficiencies and good sound quality at ultra
low bit-rates, is rapidly becoming a very popular streaming audio codec
solution. Even though the codec is not free, and there are up-front costs
involved, savings in

Streaming AAC with libshout?
The open source fdk-aac encoder, available there:
https://github.com/mstorsjo/fdk-aac
offers pretty good quality.
As for libshout, I do not think that it is currently posible to send
AAC data using it. First, libshout doesn't have support to buffer and
control timing of data sent. And even is you use the un-timed API
(shout_send_raw), the library cannot set the proper mime type, due to

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I'm not sure if this is an icecast issue or oddcast issue or both, but
the latest Winamp (v5.22) is not now playing AAC+ streams encoded with
Oddcast. Winamp v5.21 and earlier versions work fine. This may be some
attempt by Winamp developers to force people to use Shoutcast, or to
prevent oddcast from using their enc_aacplus.dll.
Right, just took some time to set up the Shoutcast DSP to

AAC support?
on the download page for icecast, I can read in the icecast-2.2.0
changelog that there's support for AAC:
AAC is added as a supported streaming format Not too many source clients
support streaming in this format, but we support it.
but when looking at the source code for icecast-2.2.0, I can't find
reference to AAC anywhere. in particular, in format.c the

icecast2.2 and aac?
Hi All,
Got today the Orban Opticodec-PC encoder LE and it sounds great at
32Kbps and 44.1Khz and even lower it sounds great!!
Now even people with dial-up can listen to FM quality streams!
Got a test stream up, if you're intrested, with some rights free (RIAA
free) music (dutch language made by a friend of mine).
