How to get the name of the first argument in an assignment function?
Dear All! If I pass an object to an assignment function I cannot get it's name by deparse(substitute(argument)), but I get *tmp* and I found no way to get the original name, in the example below it should be "va1". Is there a way? Thanks, Heinz ## example 'fu1<-' <- function(var, value) { print(c(name.of.var=deparse(substitute(var))))} fu1(va1) <- 3 name.of.var

Recursion problem
Hi, I wanted to compute the value of the function ifn at certain values of n. But I am receiving the following error when I was using the following code(given at the end). Error: evaluation nested too deeply: infinite recursion / options(expressions=)? I feel that since the function Grx is recursively related, perhaps making the code too complicated too handle. Can anyone let me know if

Apple movie trailers on Centos6/Firefox
Hi all! Once again, Apple has messed with their trailers/website such that I can no longer play their trailers on Centos 6 (note that it still works fine on my two Fedora machines, F17 and F19, without any special settings. on Centos, I've long ago found that by setting the user agent to certain values I could make it work, but now that no longer helps. when I try to view a trailer all I get

[LLVMdev] scoreboard hazard det. and instruction groupings
I'm considering writing more-detailed itineraries for some PowerPC CPUs that use the 'traditional' instruction grouping scheme. In essence, this means that multiple instructions will stall in some pipeline stage until a complete group is formed, then all will continue. I expect to provide CPU-specific code to help determine when the currently-waiting instructions would form a group.

SIGUSR1 or SIGINT error
Howdy, We occassionally get the following error when running our nightly backups: rsync error: received SIGUSR1 or SIGINT (code 20) at rsync.c(229) This happens more on one or two machines than on any of the others. We've looked high and low to see if we're mistakenly sending these signals, but nothing is that we can find. Does anyone know what this might be from? Is it the server

[RFC] Porting MachinePipeliner to AArch64+SVE
Hi, I am extending LLVM for HPC applications. As one of them, I am trying to make MachinePipeliner available on AArch64 + Scalable Vector Extension environment. MachinePipeliner is currently used only by Hexagon CPU. Since it is a very portable implementation, I think that it will actually work just by adding a little code for many CPUs(See Code [2]). The current MachinePipeliner is written on

WinME can't log immediately after restart (Samba as PDC).
Hello list. I use Slackware 10.2 with Samba 3.0.20 as PDC/WINS server in a LAN with 6 more PCs running WinME (I'm not to blame, they were there when I arrived). I've followed step by step the HOW-TO in setting up Samba as a PDC and a WINS server, but when I reboot one of the WinMEs I can't log on to the domain immediately. I have to hit [Esc], enter MS-DOS and do

R for Windows server
Hi, I need to run a burdensome simulation. I'm using a Dell PowerEdge 2850, 3.8 Ghz CPU, 2 Gb RAM, Windows server 2003, 32 bit. The task manager indicates that Rgui.exe is using 25% of the CPU speed. There is no other process that is slowing down R. Does anyone know if it's a limitation of R? If so, can I set up the program for the CPU usage like I do for the memory usage? Is there a

does IceCast & listeners logging
Hello, I'm working on a project of a commercial webradio. I need to register everytime somebody listens to my radio : when the stream begins, when it ends, the IP. But in the file access.log, there are many GETs from my listeners, before it streams, during, after, and so on. ShoutCast does it as I want but I wanna use IceCast in order to stream Ogg Vorbis ! I feel that the logging module

does IceCast & listeners logging
OK, it seems I have a problem with my configuration because the streams only last 83 seconds. I think IceCast's logging is OK with Constant Bit Rate because you can easily calculate how long somebody has been listening to the radio as you have the Bit Rate and you know when the listeners left, and because GET shows it's a listener, not a source. But what about Variable Bit Rate, possible
