you could set up a php yp-server and add a line in the icecast config $email = "you at somewhere"; if($_REQUEST['action'] == "remove"){ header("YPResponse: 1"); header("YPMessage: Deleted server info."); mail($email,'YP debug: remove stream',print_r($_REQUEST,true)); } if($_REQUEST['action'] ==

Icecast's YP bugs
Ok I've been discovering many bugs in Icecast's YP implementation.. The most serious of which is, if a YP server is rejecting a stream the server has a memory leak which, as it continues to re-try to publish it's rejected streams, grows until the server segfaults. On our server, for instance, we're relaying shoutcast streams (which does not relay the stream name and other

Icecast2 YP extention
I think we definetly need to get YP authentication into Icecast2 soon, but I'd like to propose an extension to the draft now... with action=add: banner=URL This allows the Icecast2 server to supply a URL for a graphical banner to represent the radio stream instead of just it's name. On the server end it could fetch this URL, scale/convert it as needed, and prehaps use it with the name

Hoi folks, I don't like to post in newsletter because of several reason but sometimes it isn't evitable. I am setting up a internet-radio-show (exclusively live, including 2 video-streams) and I want to read out the audio-metadata of momentarily played tracks in realtime to compare it against a SQL-database. The aim is to fill up and/or update a table with 'most played'

OT: OGG in the mainstream
There is a big, big difference between cbr and vbr, btw. The machine in question is a Pentium 3 700 oc'ed to 800, 512MB ram, win nt 5.1 (2k and xp being nt) etc In an earlier version the oddcast dsp ate up so much cpu time when set at say 64kbps (for examples sake) 44.1kHz, stereo that the machine became totally unusable and the winamp task had to be (slowly) ended with task manager. Now,

Your app release and marketing strategy..
Hey, Rapid web development is all when and good but when it takes 4 months to rise anywhere in google it certainly takes off the shine. You hear of zero to hero.. crashed the server.. minted before toilet break.. I was wondering if any heros would share their marketing strategies.. or prehaps an amazon link to "Post-Agile Web development". Does anyone plug an app purely based on its

a new proposal
I'm hoping this is a new proposal, and not a rehash of something that's already been discussed and shot down. Without logs of the recent IRC discussion there's no way for me to know without asking. When I suggested it in #theora earlier derf_ or AndrewBachmann said that it had already been discussed, so I'm under the belief that this is a new idea. <p>Ok so we've

Nicecast
So I just setup my Icecast server on my unix box but I am having trouble with Nicecast in trying to send a stream to it. Nicecast connects to the server fine when I leave the mountpoint setting blank but when I put something in there, it fails to login. Regardless, neither alternative produces a working stream. Although, when I don?t enter a mountpoint and the broadcast is playing, my icecast
