MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody,
It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2
and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...).
Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't
send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't
use ICY/X-audiocast.
Talking about Real (v9.0 and 10), I already got the

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Stephan,
I am talking about the meta-data: Artist - Song. It's weird because you are
the second person on the list who doesn't get it working in Real... I just
tried again with "BEK_dns" and "Radio Alcanzando Naciones" the 2 first MP3
radios I found in the stream directory and everything worked perfectly for
Real (but not for WMP).
In RealPlayer, I clicked

Generation of M3U and XSPF
Hello,
I'm a new user of icecast which is a really cool software.
I use it with the the http proxy module of apache httpd to do port
forwarding with 2 sub domains.
On my router i forward all tcp traffic of the port 80 to my server.
2 Sub domains are redirected to my server :
radio.mydomain.com (icecast)
music.mydomain.com (ampache)
my apache server host the ampache application with a

darkice client for windows
oddcast DSP is what you want, it supports live input (called Advanced Recording) and does support streaming to Peercast...It currently does not support Vorbis metadata for live recording (since metadata for vorbis streaming is inserted into the ogg stream, as opposed to how it's done for mp3 in which the metadata is updated on the server via URL calls)...
anyway, it's the closest thing to

Add-on patch to support .pls .asx .ram .qtl listing formats
Hi,
If you have multiple players installed on your PC/Mac .m3u will always
open the last media player who are the default in charge of the extension
and mime m3u.
On your web site you want maybe to force a link to open real media player
or quicktime/itune. You need to create a .pls to force winamp loading the
streaming because windows media player won't open .pls etc.
If you add a .pls

Generation of M3U and XSPF
I assume you have already tried setting the <hostname> section in the
config, and that it doesn't work?
http://icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.3.2/icecast2_config_file.html#misc
In that case, perhaps Icecast is picking up the server name from the http
headers. Can you get your proxy to re-write the headers in the request?
Otherwise, you could just generate local m3u/xspf files for each

You can save the dummy play-list from off the web, edit it to your liking and
serve it as a static page from a web

[OT maybe] netcafe firewall
Hi all,
I appologise in advance if this is a little OT, but I am building
a box that will serve as firewall and router for a small ''internet
cafe / netcafe'' and am using CentOS...
So here it is:
What are the best tools to be used for keeping the potential

problems with numerical optimisation
Dear list,
this is not a particular R question but perhaps someone can help.
I am running a maximum likelihood estimation (competing risk duration
model with unobserved heterogeneity) on 30 different datasets. The
problem is that on 2 datasets the model does not converge. I am
interested if there are any methods, based on the gradients or (an
approximation of) the hessian which helps to

Patch: Readconfig wont parse certain options anymore
com32/modules/readconfig.c: This is a side effect of is_kernel_type()
overwrite the current pointer in a loop context. Hence subsequent
options aren't parsed ever.
This is particularily visible, if you use timeout option, which wont
work in the latest 3.40-pre7.

File locking, Linux Redhat 6.1, samba 2.0.6 and netatalk-1.4b2+asun2.1.4
Hi,
we're trying to use the above combination with Win NT clients, but there
doesn't appear to be communication about file locking going on as the
mac users are able to corrupt samba's files, is there anything that
needs to be turned on/off on samba to tell the netatalk daemons to stop
doing nasty things? (or vice versa)
Has anybody else had problems with this particularily under
