Can connect to example1.ogg but not example1.ogg.m3u
I have just finished setting up ices2 => icecast 2 on RH9 linux.
Have 10 or so .ogg tracks in a playlist.
Also downloaded a full copy of winamp 5.
If I point my browser at
10.1.1.101:8000/example1.ogg.m3u
then winamp opens, and just says Connecting... - it never actually plays
anything.
If I use the open URL feature in winamp and give it
10.1.1.101:8000/example1.ogg
Then winamp connects to the

streaming from the sound card
Hi,
I'm trying to set up Icecast and Ices to stream from my sound card's
line-in. I'm using ALSA. I'm experienced in Linux but haven't spent much
time on multimedia and I'm new to streaming. Platform is Mandrake 10.1
with kernel held to 2.4. The sound card is working and I can record to
file using sox.
Ices and Icecast both start okay, and aren't logging any

icecast2 connect / reconnect
Hi,
I have the following problem with icecast2: I send a stream for some
time. Then the source disconnects (maybe just by abruptly dropping the
network connection), and I reconnect immediately. My problem is, that
these reconnects don't succeed regulary (say, 20-30% of the time).
The same setup worked well with icecast 1.x.

solved: building icecast2 on OpenBSD
Icecast2 compiles on OpenBSD 3.2 with the steps outlined by Moritz (thanks for
that). I'm running into problems streaming ogg files from the fileserve
directory, although serving mp3 files from the same directory happens without a
hitch...again, both work fine on a Debian system. I'll try building the ogg and
vorbis libraries from source to see if that fixes anything (they are

Difficulty over USB with a CyberPower 800AVR and nut 2.0.3
I recently purchased a CyberPower 800AVR UPS which I'm trying to use
over USB with my PC (ArchLinux 0.7.2 [aka up to date]) and nut 2.0.3.
Following the setup instructions, I have an entry as follows in
/etc/nutups/ups.conf (where I chose the configuration file to go when
building nut):
[MyUPS]
driver = cyberpower
port = /dev/bus/usb/004/007

client disconnects after one song is played
I'm using the latest CVS source under Linux using a playlist
of ogg files. When I use a client to connect on the same
machine, there is not any disconnect (xmms and zinf). When
using a client on a Windows machine, I get mixed results.
Zinf on windows will play thru the current song but then stops
when the song is finished and does not play the next song
being streamed (see log below).

Hi Marvin,
Thanks for your reply. It turns out my debug error logs were going to /dev/stderr, have since fixed this. Here is the complete error log. I've highlighted what I believe to be the problem. Thanks.

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
Yupp, same results. What else can be trying? Perms all seems a-ok, the name
resolution issue makes me feel funny. Here's a URL to the ptrace -f of the
non-chrooted run -- http://tinyurl.com/ytsqv ..
Although, MIRACULOUSLY, non-chrooted, non-privlidged, port 8000, + DNS works?!
Eventhough, without DNS it doesnt. As you can see! --

icecast2 sends metadata to clients but not actual stream
Hello,
I just installed icecast2 on Ubuntu 10.10 server from Ubuntu repositories.
My intention was to use VLC on another computer to stream video through
IceCast.
The problem is that the server is not sending the actual data to any
clients. To find out more about what is going on, I increased icecast's
log level to 4 to see debug data in error.log. And here's what it shows:

YP submission / cURL issue. (icecast 2.0.1 / gentoo)
Odd:
I just pulled SVN and compiled.. Wonderful new logging code, btw!
Now, why in the WORLD would the resolution be failling?! nsswitch.conf /
resolv.conf / hosts is all fine.. *shrug*
I can obviously put IPs instead of hosts in the URLs, however things still
fail..

Problem with Icecast2/Ices streaming MP3.
Hello everyone,
I am running Icecast 2.0.0 with ices-3.0. I run ices on a machine which
has all the mp3 files I am playing and stream these mp3 to Icecast which
is running on another machine. Every now and then, say 2 hours. Ices
keeps churning out errors saying updating meta data and socket errors
and keeps retrying and after some time it suceeds for one file and then
when playing the next file

Mountpoint "disappearing" ?
Hi,
I'm trying to get the following project to work :
* acquisition from video acqusition card using vlc
* vlc transcode to theora/vorbis and sends it to an icecast2 server
Using VLC to acquire from the device is working ok. I get a stream in
theora/vorbis format with audio & video sync'ed.
Now, when I use VLC to send the stream to my icecast2 server, the
stream mounts, it is

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
We are using icecast as stream-relay for a true narrowcast solution
we've developed. The idea behind the system is that each individual
client gets it's own mountpoint.
Basically we have an application that creates streams. Its written in
c++ and uses libshout to handle connecting to icecast.
Everything works fine, as long as we keep the number of mountpoints
below 347. As soon as we

In icecast, you shouldn't specify this, unless you want non-default settings
on this mountpoint, but not on any others.
In your source client, you should specify the mount as
