I'm trying to install Icecast in my home directory using the method described in the following doc under the heading "Customized compilation." http://melmoth.dyndns.org/stream/doc/x145.html However, when I run the autogen.sh script for ices, I get the following messages: checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config configure: /usr/bin/pkg-config couldn't find libshout. Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Absolutely!! That was one thing that I was missing and would have like to have included. You can either send me the data or let us know the link. If you wouldn't mind adding to this HOWTO and I will post a link to your page so that people would know where I got the original files. Sounds good. Newbie Problem
Hi all! I just finished an install of icecast/iceS but I'm having problems. I followed the documentation provided here: http://melmoth.dyndns.org/stream/doc/ to the letter and this is the problem I'm having: Everything seems to function (icecast runs, iceS runs) and it generates messages such as: [root@icecast stream]# bin/ices conf/ices-playlist.xml [2003-06-04 06:43:17] INFO

Syslog is the proper way to do logging on a UNIX/Linux system. In a serious production environment, you tend to be automatically disqualified from consideration for doing anything different -- it's just too much of a headache to figure out all the quirks of non-standard applications. On the other hand, if ICECAST was only ever intended as a hobby, then it really doesn't matter.

PHP script to administrate Icecast ?
Hi everyone I wondered if any of you knew of a good PHP script to administrate Icecast, as I'm not satisfied with the webadmin interface (templates do not control everything and I'd rather not modify the sources). I've tried phpcast (found on freshmeat) but I'd like to see others in action. Another thing, anyone tried to change the mysql backend of icedir from SQL to LDAP ?

ice2 autogen.sh problems
i have been playing around trying to get ice2 to work now for quite some time and frankly i am a bit frustrated by now... the anoying thing is how early in the whole proccess my problems actually start! running ./autogen.sh in the newest cvs version of ice2 results in <p>idoru:/usr/src/ices# ./autogen.sh I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish to pass any to it,

Live Streaming Problem
Me again.... After getting regular playlist streaming working, I'm not trying to complete the project and implement the live streaming. Unfortunately, due to the sad, lacking documentation for icecast and ices (especially what the xml tags in the configuration files actually DO and how they can be used), I've run into another snag that only you guys can help me out with. Here it goes.

Converting a 'difftime' to integer - How to???
I want to find the DOY (Day of Year) of some dates. I think to substract the date 1. January from the data to achive this. Something like: > d <- as.Date("2006-03-13") - as.Date("2006-01-01") +1 > d Time difference of 72 days So far so good. But d is a 'difftime' object. How do I get an Integer value from that? I tried severel things, incuding the

icecast2 alpha 1 (09/19/03) seg fault
Hi, icecast2 doesn't want to run stable on my Slackmachine: Linux tyson 2.4.18 #9 Fri Oct 4 17:13:35 CEST 2002 i586 unknown I followed the guidelines at http://melmoth.dyndns.org. I use Winamp v2.81 in combination with Oddcast DSP plugin. I can get the stream up and running. I also can connect to it and listen to it through another instance of Winamp. The seg fault is reproducable: 1. I

Firewall issue with Icecast
Greetings, I've recently setup Icecast2 and Ices2 from the sources in the CVS repository. Everything seems to be working fine with the exception of a firewall issue that I'm having. Icecast appears to use a TCP connection, for session setup, that is initiated by the client. Icecast then sources a TCP connection back to the client for the stream itself. This basically how

transfer data from one hard drive to another
Hello I have an OS installation and data on a 40 gb drive that I would like to image to a 80 gb drive. I don't care if the resulting partition layout on the new drive is only 40 gb making me lose space. I just want to move everything from the older drive because I think it's failing. I have looked at partimage and mondo rescue as imaging solutions but both deal with partitions. CAn someone
