IceS segmentation fault
I get a segmentation fault when starting the IceS encoder on a Linux-based QNAP NAS. I'm trying to set up IceS to stream an ALSA input to Icecast. Icecast works well and confirms when I stream using other things to it. However IceS hits a segmentation fault immediately after starting the encoder. The IceS log is: [~] # sudo ices /etc/ices.xml [2020-05-11 19:24:34] INFO ices-core/main IceS

Server drops client - problem with IceS?
Geoff Shang wrote: > Does your playback match the sound that you are encoding? Perhaps share > your config file so we can help troubleshoot this. I would think so, but I might have missed something. <p>Here is my IceS2-config - with this one, the problem manifests after 2 minutes of playing, and the client is disconnected after 3 minutes. I have tried tweaking bitrate, quality,

ices (CVS) seg faults.
With bitrate management ices segfaults when using a samplerate different from 44100. But works with VBR (quality setting) works no matter what sample rate I choose . bad buffering
Hi all! I installed icecast & ices (from CVS) Enerything runs, but with some problems: When I connect to the server (with XMMS or MPlayer) the buffer runs empty very quickly, causing interruptions. My "server" is an old Pentium 120 with 64MB RAM ,a HD of 8G and an ethernet NIC. (I know it isn't much, but I'm tired of taking my CD collection to work.) I ripped the tracks in

ices bitrate encoding mode?
I have got ices running with quality -1 (and on my roommates crappy computer speakers it sounds damn near the real thing - better than FM radio anyway)... I'm just wondering if it's posible to configure it with a maximum bitrate, or a nominal bitrate. i.e. to use managed bitrates instead of quality (I know it's a no no, but this is streaming!). Server drops client - problem with IceS?
Hi there, I just joined the list and have a question on one of the earlier posts: On Oct 28 2003, Ricardo wrote that his server diconnected his clients. I have the exact same problem - and a bit of testing/analysis. <p>I am running an Icecast server and IceS on the same linux box. IceS is encoding a live stream from my sound card. After a while of listening (approx 2 mins) from another

Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Speex, Ogg FLAC
Now that FLAC has officionally joined the Xiph family, there are three different free audio codecs, which can be stored/transported using the ogg container. Would it be possible to create an API and/or a library that would cover them all? If my understanding of the situation is correct, if an application wants to support vorbis, speex and flac, it has to use three different interfaces.

Limiting stream bandwidth
I am trying to limit the bandwidth per stream so that I can stream 2 mp3 connections from my box. I have 256 upload speed. I am using icecast 0.3 and ices 2. I made the changed listed below, restarted everything but it still seems to be streaming at max bandwith. Is there anything, besides moving to ogg vorbis -- it will happen when I have time to write the script to convert the 1000s of files

Ices2 compile error - streaming ogg!
Still trying to stream ogg and have not gotten past a make error in ices2. We www.freespeech.org are an independent media / news site so it would be nice to get this running and support this new format. I'd love to convert all of our 700 streaming video files from from realmedia as well but thats another story! Perhaps this is not the correct forum but it seems like there are a lot of
