RTP/RTSP streaming of GSM or ADPCM audio
Greetings: It would be nice if Icecast supported RTSP; however I would appreciate any suggestions for a small RTSP/RTP solution to encode 8kHz mono audio in GSM or ADPCM and service multiple unicast client connections. The ideal would be a black-box hardware solution with an audio input and ethernet interface similar to broadcast studio IP audio links or the network audio capabilities of certain

3GPP and 3Gpp2 Support
Are there any plans to provide support to stream to cellphones ? If my understanding is correct, this requires 3Gpp, RTP/RTSP support. I see that apple has a stream server for this. Randy

Ogg/Icecast vs. Real
After reading through an older thread on this list (streaming ogg audio), I was wondering if would be possible in the future to use OggVorbis and Icecast as a replacement for RealAudio and RealServer. By this I'm not talking about simple live http/tcp streaming, but on-demand rtsp/udp streaming where a user could open a player and instantly jump to a location in a file, or click a link in a

Some simple Q's about Vorbis...
Hello all! I am wondering if anyone can help me locate some information concerning streaming Vorbis files. I am needing to locate the information for a multimedia networking class I am taking so I can learn all this audio and networking mumbo-jumbo. For the class, I need to locate 3 streaming media types and answer the following questions: Does it use Meta

Anybody tried implementing different streaming protocols yet?
Hi, does anybody know if somebody tried implementing things like rtsp, mms or similar in icecast so far? I heard some rumors from people complaining transmissions over http or not "that secure" because using a wget you can easily write them to disk. They suggested using real servers or something - but I wonder if its (easy?) possible to implement another already widely used

Live HTTP streaming of Theora files
What's the easiest way to broadcast a "live" event using Theora? - Microsoft Media Services uses a closed protocol (MMS) and special streaming servers, so I'm not excited to go that way, even though it seems to be the most obvious choice. (Though I'm not sure if I could convince it to use Theora anyway.) - I could encode the entire file into an Ogg/Theora file and just

RTSP reflection.
Hi Where do I find instruction to configure icecast as a reflect server for rtsp? Scenario: Client1 sends audio to IceCast via rtsp Client2 receives audio from IceCast via rtsp. I need to just setup this behaviour.. -Atul -- ------- To make world a better place to live in ------- -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Streaming Support
Hi, I'm wondering if the plans for streaming support include on demand streams via rtsp -- not just a multicast of one stream like a radio station (icecast)?

icecast2
Hi, I believe I have found another small problem. When a stream finishes, say using the libshout example code, icecast seems to go into a loop at lock at 100% CPU. This seems to be coming from the connenction select area. Any ideas? Also there were rumors around a while back that icecast2 would support rtsp and possibly real. Is there any strength in these rumors? Tim. --- >8 ---- List

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
Ok, I read the Read Me. So icyx://boa.mediacast1.com:9292/stream.aac works. I don't understand why the http syntax cannot be made to work. This works fine for Ogg Vorbis streams using the Illumination DirectShow filter. Opus RTP/RTSP support
Dear Opus developers. This is the first time I write here, so hello to everybody! Sorry to disturb you but I would like to ask you something I could not answer by googling and by looking at this mailing list archive. I have just started investigating this new and promising codec for real-time audio transport over the internet for industrial applications. I was previously experimenting with RTP

Speex and RTP
Hi - I am currently developing a RTSP/RTP/SDP solution to stream Speex encoded data. Using my current source, I have successfully streamed u-law and PCM encoded audio but have been unsuccessful thus far with Speex. Because of some constraints of my system, I am encoding audio at 11.025kHz. I am still using the 160 samples per frame which makes my frame size 28 bytes. I have successfully

Server-side streaming roundup
Hi Icecasters! I'm trying to gather information about the open source streaming scene (server-side) and, well, I consider three contenders (am I missing one?) for the "best streaming architecture". They are (in no particular order)... - (Vorbis's)? Icecast 2.0 + Ices - Apple's Darwin Streaming Server (Quicktime Streaming Server) 4.1 - Real's Helix Platform My study

Icecast2 Server - AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus Support
Hello- You guys have done an excellent job with the Icecast2 server. I probably don't need to tell you that, but I did anyway. We are Coding Technologies licensees and have recently developed a streaming audio encoder supporting AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus using RTSP/RTP, SHOUTcast HTTP/ICY, and Icecast2 HTTP/ICY, Orban Opticodec-PC.
